Fans of MobLand finally have a date to circle on their calendars. Paramount+ has officially confirmed when the hit British crime drama will return, ending months of speculation about its next chapter. Alongside the announcement, the streamer also unveiled the first teaser for Season 2, giving viewers a brief glimpse of the chaos waiting for the Harrigan crime family.
The announcement comes at an interesting time for the series, especially after recent reports suggested Tom Hardy’s future with the show had briefly been uncertain. With Season 2 now locked in and Hardy’s long-term involvement reportedly back on track, MobLand is gearing up for another major run on the streaming platform.
Paramount+ confirms Season 2 release
MobLand Season 2 will premiere on September 18 exclusively on Paramount+. Like the first season, the new chapter will consist of 10 episodes, continuing the story of London’s ruthless criminal underworld. Paramount+ also released the first teaser, hinting that the power struggle inside the Harrigan family is only becoming more dangerous.
According to the official synopsis, the Harrigans will attempt to stay united while rival gangs close in on their weakening empire. At the centre of the conflict once again is Harry Da Souza, played by Tom Hardy, who finds himself balancing fragile family loyalties as violence and betrayal threaten to tear everything apart. The new season promises higher stakes, shifting alliances and even fewer chances for mercy.
Tom Hardy returns as Harry Da Souza
The release date announcement follows recent reports that Tom Hardy will continue with the series after earlier uncertainty surrounding his future. Reports claimed disagreements with the show’s producers had briefly put his involvement in doubt, but discussions in London reportedly helped both sides reach an agreement. As a result, Hardy is now expected to remain a key part of the franchise going forward, with reports also indicating he is set to return for a third season.
Hardy’s performance as fixer Harry Da Souza became one of the biggest highlights of the first season. His calm but unpredictable presence, combined with the show’s gritty storytelling, helped MobLand establish itself as one of Paramount+’s strongest original crime dramas. Season 2 is expected to place even greater focus on Harry as internal family tensions continue to spiral.
Returning cast and creative team
The upcoming season brings back an impressive ensemble led by Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren alongside Tom Hardy. Returning cast members also include Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddie Allen, Emmett J. Scanlan, Johnny Flynn, Ophelia Lovibond, Janet McTeer and Toby Jones. Their performances helped make the first season one of the most talked-about British crime series in recent years.
MobLand was created by Ronan Bennett, while Jez Butterworth continues as executive producer and showrunner. Guy Ritchie also remains attached as an executive producer, adding his signature crime-drama influence to the project. Produced by Paramount Television Studios in association with 101 Studios, the series has built a loyal international audience thanks to its stylish direction, powerful performances and brutal gangland storytelling. With a confirmed premiere date now in place, fans won’t have to wait much longer before returning to the dangerous world of the Harrigans.
