Prabhas’ highly anticipated action drama Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has received a new theatrical release date. The film will now arrive worldwide on October 29, 2027, positioning it for a potential Diwali box-office showdown with Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana: Part 2.
Vanga announced the revised schedule on Sunday, October 18, alongside a fresh poster featuring Prabhas. The filmmaker had previously scheduled Spirit for March 5, 2027, making the new date a significant postponement.
Spirit’s New Poster Reveals Prabhas’ Look
The latest promotional artwork presents Prabhas in a rugged appearance, wearing sunglasses and sporting a beard, reinforcing the intense image established through earlier glimpses.
Spirit marks Prabhas’ first collaboration with Vanga, whose previous directorial venture, Animal (2023), starred Ranbir Kapoor.
The upcoming film features Prabhas as a police officer and also stars Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj. Produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, the action thriller has been in development since its announcement in 2021.
Will Spirit Clash With Ramayana Part 2?
The October 29 announcement creates an interesting scheduling situation because Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 2 is also planned for Diwali 2027.
The mythological epic features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.
However, the makers of Ramayana have not announced an exact release date for Part 2, meaning a same-day clash is not yet confirmed.
Interestingly, Vanga previously directed Ranbir in Animal, making the potential competition between their upcoming films particularly noteworthy.
Both projects target substantial audiences across India and international markets. If their theatrical windows overlap, screen allocation and audience preferences could become important factors.
For now, Spirit has secured its release date, while the final Diwali 2027 box-office lineup awaits confirmation.
