Quentin Tarantino has revealed that he already has a screenplay in mind for his tenth and potentially final film, but he is in no hurry to bring it to theaters. The Oscar-winning filmmaker wants to explore theater and spend more time with his family before deciding on his next movie.
Appearing on The Graham Norton Show on October 16, Tarantino confirmed that he had written a screenplay he genuinely liked.
“I’ve written a script I could do that I really like,” he said, before explaining his intention to focus on his upcoming stage production and personal life.
Why Tarantino Is Prioritizing Theater Over Hollywood
Rather than immediately returning to filmmaking, Tarantino is preparing his first stage play, The Popinjay Cavalier, a swashbuckling comedy starring Sacha Baron Cohen.
The production will begin previews at London’s Phoenix Theatre on February 23, 2027, before officially opening on March 18. Its limited run is currently scheduled to conclude on June 13.
Tarantino also expressed his desire to “spend time with my family and live a little” before making another major creative commitment.
What This Means for His Tenth Film
Tarantino has repeatedly discussed retiring after directing ten feature films. His most recent directorial release, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, arrived in 2019, meaning his return to the director’s chair is already seven years in the making.
Interestingly, he has not definitively committed to using the new screenplay as his final film. Its plot, cast and production schedule remain undisclosed.
Meanwhile, Tarantino has also written The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, with David Fincher directing and Brad Pitt reprising his role.
For now, Tarantino’s tenth film has a possible screenplay, but no confirmed path to production.
