Vin Diesel has confirmed that production on the franchise’s last film has begun, giving fans their biggest update yet on the long-awaited conclusion. Titled Fast Forever, the movie will bring the blockbuster series to an end after a remarkable 25-year journey at the global box office.
The announcement comes after years of speculation about when the final chapter would begin filming. Diesel shared the news directly from the set, thanking fans for standing by the franchise while the team worked to deliver what he hopes will be a memorable farewell.
Vin Diesel Confirms Filming Has Officially Begun
Posting a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram, Diesel revealed that cameras are now rolling on the final Fast & Furious film. The actor, who has played Dominic Toretto since the franchise began in 2001, expressed his gratitude to fans for their patience throughout the lengthy development process.
He said, “I’m on set. People are grinding. Incredible crews are working. I just wanted to take a second to … say thank you. You guys are the best audience in the world, best fans in the world. You’ve been patient to the industry, you’ve been patient to the studio, and you’ve been patient with me. Over the past three and a half years, we’ve been grinding to try to make the most amazing finale.”
The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on March 17, 2028, marking the eleventh and final installment in the main Fast & Furious series. Since the release of The Fast and the Furious, the franchise has grown into one of Hollywood’s biggest action properties, earning more than $7 billion worldwide and expanding into spin-offs, games and merchandise.
‘I Hope To Make You All Proud’
Although Diesel has several other projects lined up, including Riddick: Furya and a live-action adaptation of Mattel’s Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em, he made it clear that his current focus remains giving Fast & Furious fans the ending they deserve.
He said, “But through it all, one thing I know is, I can feel your support, and that means the world to me. So, let me get back to this filming, and just know that I hope to make you all proud.”
The actor has repeatedly spoken about wanting the finale to honour both the characters and the audience that has supported the series for more than two decades. While plot details remain under wraps, expectations are high for a conclusion that brings together the franchise’s biggest storylines.
The Fast Saga May End, But The Universe Continues
While Fast Forever will close the main storyline centred around Dominic Toretto and his family, it won’t necessarily mark the end of the Fast & Furious universe. Vin Diesel has previously revealed that multiple television projects are already being developed, expanding the franchise beyond the big screen.
