Janhvi Kapoor, Sreeleela and Siddharth Gupta have officially begun filming their upcoming untitled romantic thriller in Nainital, Uttarakhand. Directed by Pagglait filmmaker Umesh Bist, the project brings the three actors together for the first time in a story exploring love, obsession and complicated relationships.
According to Variety India, the film’s first shooting schedule commenced on October 16, 2026. It is produced by Ektaa Kapoor and Guneet Monga Kapoor under Balaji Motion Pictures and Sikhya Entertainment, respectively.
What Is Janhvi Kapoor and Sreeleela’s New Film About?
The romantic thriller reportedly revolves around two women who become obsessed with the same man, creating a potentially dangerous emotional triangle.
While the central premise has emerged, the filmmakers have not revealed the characters’ identities or detailed storyline.
Interestingly, the project was still searching for its male lead in August 2026. Siddharth Gupta subsequently emerged as a possible choice in September, making the start of filming an important development.
For Gupta, the Nainital schedule marks a return to his home state. Janhvi also has experience filming in Uttarakhand, having previously shot portions of Mili and Roohi in the region.
Why This Collaboration Is Interesting
Umesh Bist previously directed the critically acclaimed Pagglait and worked on Gyaarah Gyaarah and The Trial Season 2.
His experience with emotionally complex characters could make the obsession-driven premise particularly interesting.
Meanwhile, Janhvi is preparing for Lag Jaa Gale, alongside Tiger Shroff and Lakshya, while Sreeleela has Anurag Basu’s romantic musical with Kartik Aaryan lined up for April 2027.
Siddharth Gupta recently appeared as Lord Krishna in Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart.
The film’s official title, release date and remaining cast are yet to be announced. With production now underway, further details are expected as filming progresses.
