Rukmini Vasanth Joins Shree Karthick’s Road Trip Film

Rukmini Vasanth has signed another promising project, this time joining filmmaker Shree Karthick, best known for Oke Oka Jeevitham, for an upcoming road trip comedy-drama.

The announcement arrived on October 23, 2026, through a playful promotional video introducing the actress as Thara, one of three central characters in the yet-to-be-titled film.

Dev Ramnath and Vinayak Vaithianathan will also star, with the story promising a combination of friendship, adventure and emotional discoveries.

Rukmini Vasanth Introduced as Thara in Quirky Video

Instead of a conventional casting announcement, the filmmakers released a humorous video titled Finding Thara.

The clip follows Shree Karthick and his collaborators as they struggle to find the right actress for their project.

An animated camera named Nikki eventually helps them discover Rukmini, who responds enthusiastically after hearing the story.

The unusual announcement establishes the film’s lighthearted personality without revealing too much about its central conflict.

While Rukmini’s character has been introduced, additional details about Thara’s personality and relationships remain under wraps.

Shree Karthick’s Film Explores Childhood Friendship

In an interview with Cinema Express, actor-producer Dev Ramnath revealed that the film follows three childhood friends who grow up in the same residential quarters.

They eventually reunite under circumstances that set their journey in motion.

Describing the project, Ramnath called it “a coming-of-age friendship drama.”

Interestingly, the premise draws inspiration from the real-life friendship between Ramnath, Karthick and Vaithianathan, who have known one another for more than a decade.

The trio previously established Mad Boys Entertainment and have pursued different careers within the film industry.

Their new collaboration therefore carries a personal significance beyond its fictional storyline.

Karthick’s previous feature, Oke Oka Jeevitham (2022), released in Tamil as Kanam, combined time travel with an emotional mother-son relationship.

His latest project appears to continue that interest in combining an unusual premise with recognizable human emotions.

When Will Rukmini Vasanth’s New Film Release?

Shree Karthick is directing and co-writing the screenplay with Vinayak Vaithianathan.

The film is being produced by Siruni Cine Corporation and Mad Boys Entertainment, with Saikrishna Gadwal serving as co-producer.

According to Ramnath, filming is expected to begin in December 2026 across Chennai, Bengaluru, Mysuru and other locations.

The project is primarily planned as a Tamil-language production, although Telugu and Kannada dubbed versions are being considered.

For Rukmini, the film adds another character-driven project to an expanding lineup that includes Prashanth Neel’s Dragon, the Malayalam romantic comedy NP51 and Kannada film Mangala Gowri.

An official title and theatrical release date have not been announced.

With its emphasis on childhood friendships and an unpredictable journey, the film could offer a refreshing change from conventional star-driven entertainers.
