Yami Gautam celebrated Dussehra in a memorable way, performing the symbolic Ravan Vadh at Delhi’s iconic Luv Kush Ramleela on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. The actress joined thousands of spectators at the historic Red Fort Ground, where she shot a ceremonial arrow towards Ravana’s effigy.
Filmmaker Aanand L Rai accompanied Gautam during the festivities, which also saw Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan participate in the traditional Ravan Dahan ceremony.
Yami Gautam Calls Her Dussehra Experience a Beautiful Feeling
Videos circulating on social media showed Gautam taking aim at Ravana’s effigy as spectators gathered for the Vijayadashami celebrations.
Sharing photographs from the event on Instagram, the actress expressed her happiness at witnessing the enormous crowd celebrating together.
“Such a beautiful feeling to experience sea of people gathered to celebrate the true spirit of ‘Vijaydhashmi’ as 1 heartbeat,” she wrote.
Gautam also extended her Dussehra wishes and concluded her message with “Jai Shri Ram.”
Her participation carried additional significance because she recently performed a similar Ravan Vadh sequence in her supernatural comedy Nayyi Navelli.
The celebration effectively brought a moment from her latest film into a traditional public gathering.
Luv Kush Ramleela Highlights Women’s Empowerment
This year’s Luv Kush Ramleela adopted “Respect for Women” as its central theme, with organisers inviting Gautam to symbolize courage, dignity and the ability to confront injustice.
Arjun Kumar, president of the Luv Kush Ramleela Committee, explained that the celebration aimed to emphasize women’s participation in the triumph of good over evil.
He described Ravana as representing not only a mythological antagonist but also arrogance and social injustice.
Gautam’s symbolic act was intended to reinforce that message.
Yami Gautam Joins a Long Tradition of Celebrity Participation
The Luv Kush Ramleela has welcomed numerous Bollywood personalities over the years, including Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Prabhas, Kareena Kapoor and John Abraham.
Gautam’s appearance continued that tradition while connecting the festivities with her latest theatrical release.
Directed by Balaji Mohan and produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma, Nayyi Navelli stars Gautam alongside Adinath Kothare.
The horror-comedy follows a mysterious newlywed whose arrival creates unusual circumstances within her husband’s household.
For Gautam, the Dussehra celebration offered an opportunity to connect with audiences beyond the cinema while participating in a festival centered on the victory of good over evil.
