House of David Renewed for Season 3 at Prime Video

Prime Video is returning to one of its biggest faith-based dramas. House of David has officially been renewed for a third season, ensuring that the biblical epic will continue after building a strong global audience over its first two installments. The announcement comes as the series continues to attract viewers with its large-scale storytelling and emotional take on one of history’s most well-known figures.

The renewal also signals Amazon MGM Studios’ growing confidence in the franchise. Since premiering in early 2025, House of David has steadily expanded its fanbase, with Season 2 arriving later the same year. Now, the story is set to move into another major chapter of David’s life as his path toward the throne becomes even more dangerous.

Season 3 will focus on David’s exile

According to the official synopsis, the upcoming season will explore one of the darkest and most defining periods in David’s journey. Rather than immediately becoming king, David will be forced into exile, living as a hunted outlaw while trying to survive among his enemies. The new episodes will examine the sacrifices, betrayals and personal struggles that shape him before he finally reaches his destiny.

The official description states, “David’s journey comes full circle from outcast shepherd to fierce warrior, to his ultimate destiny as King. But before the throne, there is exile. David is a hunted outlaw, forced to hide among his enemies and live yet another dangerous lie. This chapter explores the true cost of destiny — the betrayals endured, the identities shed, and the sacrifices demanded of a hero before he can rise to the throne.”

Creators and executive producers Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn said they are thankful for the audience support the series has received around the world. Speaking about the renewal, they said, “We are incredibly grateful to fans around the world who have embraced ‘House of David.’ Season Three follows David through one of the most defining chapters of his life, and we’re honored to share this next chapter alongside our partners at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios. Whether audiences have known David through Scripture or are encountering him from a fresh perspective, we hope the series continues to reveal why his story has resonated across generations.”

Returning cast and creative team

Michael Iskander will once again lead the series as David, alongside Ali Suliman as King Saul, Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam and Stephen Lang as Samuel. The ensemble cast also includes Indy Lewis, Yali Topol Margalith, Ethan Kai, Sam Otto, Oded Fehr, Louis Ferreira, Davood Ghadami, Ashraf Barhom and Alexander Uloom.

Behind the scenes, Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn continue to executive produce the series alongside Justin Rosenblatt, Gavin J. Behrman, Adam Abel, Chad Oakes, Michael Frislev and Erik Mountain. The production is backed by Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios in association with Nomadic Pictures, Argonauts, Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate Television.

Wonder Project CEO Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten also welcomed the renewal, saying, “At Wonder Project, we’re committed to building enduring franchises rooted in timeless stories that inspire, entertain and bring audiences together. We’re grateful to Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios for their continued partnership and shared belief in that vision, and we’re excited to continue the journey with a third season of House of David.”

Prime Video doubles down on the franchise

Amazon MGM Studios believes the series still has plenty of stories left to tell. Kara Smith, Head of Drama at Amazon MGM Studios, praised the show’s worldwide reception and confirmed the company is eager to continue investing in the biblical drama.

She said, “‘House of David’ has resonated with audiences around the world, bringing this timeless story to life with breathtaking scope and emotional authenticity. With millions of viewers captivated by the series, we are thrilled to continue this journey with our partners at Wonder Project for a third season, delivering even more of the rich storytelling and compelling performances that have made this show a global success on Prime Video.”

Faith-based dramas have become an increasingly important part of the streaming landscape over the past few years, with audiences showing strong interest in biblical adaptations and inspirational storytelling. House of David has benefited from that growing demand while also attracting viewers looking for large-scale historical dramas beyond traditional fantasy and action series.

Although Prime Video has yet to announce a release date for Season 3, the renewal confirms that David’s story is far from over. With exile, conflict and the road to kingship now at the centre of the narrative, the next season promises to deliver another emotionally charged chapter in one of the platform’s most successful original series.
