The countdown has officially begun for one of Indian cinema’s biggest releases. Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part 1 is preparing for its first major showcase, and ahead of the grand trailer launch later this month, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has completed its review of the promotional video. The approval clears the way for audiences across the country to witness the film’s first full glimpse on the big screen and online.
According to the CBFC listing, the trailer has been awarded a ‘U’ (Universal) certificate, making it suitable for viewers of all age groups. The certification comes just days before its scheduled worldwide premiere on July 24, 2026, adding to the growing anticipation surrounding the mythological epic.
Two Trailer Versions Cleared by CBFC
The CBFC records reveal that the makers have prepared two separate versions of the trailer for different exhibition formats. The 3D version runs for 4 minutes and 15 seconds, while the standard theatrical version has a runtime of 4 minutes. The difference suggests that the makers are planning an immersive theatrical presentation while also ensuring a streamlined version for cinemas screening the film in regular format.
With both versions now certified, the promotional campaign is expected to begin in full swing. Considering the scale of the project, the trailer launch is likely to become one of the biggest promotional events for an Indian film this year.
Makers Build Hype Ahead of the Big Reveal
Earlier, the production team had unveiled the film’s first look, offering audiences a glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram while also releasing a striking poster featuring Ranbir’s Ram opposite Yash’s Ravana. Those visuals generated widespread discussion across social media, with fans praising the film’s grand visual approach and eagerly waiting for the first full trailer.
The makers confirmed the trailer launch through their official social media handle, writing, “From Bharat to the world, the Ramayana trailer premieres worldwide on 24th July, 2026.” The announcement quickly gained traction online as excitement continued to build around what is being billed as one of the most ambitious Indian films ever made.
The team had also released a statement, stating, “For thousands of years, the Ramayana has inspired generations through its timeless ideals of dharma, maryada, courage and compassion. Now, it begins a new journey. Now, it begins a new journey. One of Bharat’s greatest civilisation epics, presented to the world, at a scale never attempted before in Indian cinema.”
Made on a reported budget of around ₹4,000 crore, Ramayana brings together one of the strongest ensemble casts in recent years. Ranbir Kapoor leads the film as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi stars as Sita, and Yash takes on the role of Ravana. The cast also features Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, along with Rakul Preet Singh, Kunal Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Sheeba Chaddha and Addinath M. Kothare in pivotal roles.
With its trailer now officially certified and the launch date locked, all eyes are on July 24 to see whether Ramayana Part 1 lives up to the enormous expectations surrounding the ambitious adaptation. The first trailer is expected to offer audiences their clearest look yet at the scale, performances and visual storytelling that Nitesh Tiwari and his team have been quietly building over the past few years.
