Rajkummar Rao’s courtroom drama Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam has collected an estimated ₹12.86 crore worldwide during its opening weekend, registering steady growth despite a relatively modest start.
Directed by Avinash Arun, the film opened in theaters on October 16, 2026, and earned ₹9.15 crore net in India over its first three days, according to Sacnilk.
Although collections improved throughout the weekend, Prahaar remained behind Yami Gautam’s horror comedy Nayyi Navelli, which released on the same day.
Prahaar Box Office Collection: Day-Wise Breakdown
Prahaar opened with ₹2.35 crore net on Friday before collecting ₹3.15 crore on Saturday, registering approximately 34% growth.
Sunday brought another improvement, with earnings reaching ₹3.65 crore, a 15.9% increase over Saturday.
| Day | India Net Collection |
|---|---|
| Friday, October 16 | ₹2.35 crore |
| Saturday, October 17 | ₹3.15 crore |
| Sunday, October 18 | ₹3.65 crore |
| Total | ₹9.15 crore |
The film’s domestic gross stands at ₹10.86 crore, while overseas markets contributed ₹2 crore, taking its worldwide total to ₹12.86 crore.
Interestingly, reported occupancy increased from 13% on Friday to 22% on Sunday, even as the number of shows declined.
The improving attendance suggests growing weekend interest, although weekday performance will determine whether that momentum is sustainable.
Prahaar Trails Nayyi Navelli at the Box Office
Despite its upward trend, Prahaar has faced considerable competition.
Nayyi Navelli, starring Yami Gautam, earned ₹11.65 crore net in India and ₹15.88 crore worldwide during the same three-day period.
That places Prahaar approximately ₹3.02 crore behind its direct competitor globally.
Bollywood Hungama, meanwhile, reports a slightly lower worldwide estimate of ₹11.60 crore for Prahaar, highlighting differences between trade trackers.
Can Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar Recover?
Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Prahaar follows prominent public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, portrayed by Rajkummar Rao.
The courtroom drama explores major criminal cases, including the 1993 Bombay bombings and the prosecution of Ajmal Kasab following the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
The ensemble also includes Wamiqa Gabbi, Lalit Prabhakar, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher.
While the film’s gradual weekend growth is encouraging, its collections remain modest.
Monday, October 19, will be the first significant test of whether Prahaar can maintain audience interest beyond the weekend. Final fourth-day figures are still awaited, making an early hit-or-flop verdict premature.
