Prime Video has released the official trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3, revealing an increasingly dangerous Middle-earth where Sauron’s armies, terrifying Ringwraiths, fiery Balrogs and monstrous creatures threaten the remaining free kingdoms.
Unveiled on October 21, 2026, the action-packed preview offers a glimpse of the fantasy series’ biggest conflict yet, with Charlie Vickers returning as Sauron and Morfydd Clark reprising her role as Galadriel.
The eight-episode season will premiere on November 11, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
Sauron Prepares to Forge the One Ring
The new trailer places Sauron at the center of the conflict as he moves closer to forging the One Ring, the powerful artifact that will eventually define J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.
Set five years after the fall of Eregion in Season 2, the story finds much of Middle-earth already conquered by the Dark Lord’s forces.
From his newly completed fortress of Barad-dûr in Mordor, Sauron continues working toward absolute domination.
The footage features enormous armies of Orcs, heavily armored Ringwraiths and menacing winged creatures, alongside a fiery confrontation involving a Balrog.
While some descriptions have referred to the flying creatures as dragons, Prime Video has not explicitly identified every creature shown in the trailer.
The escalating threat suggests that Season 3 will shift further toward large-scale warfare rather than the political manipulation that dominated much of the earlier story.
Galadriel, Gandalf and Celeborn Prepare for Battle
Galadriel emerges as one of the central figures resisting Sauron’s expanding influence.
The trailer also introduces Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn, Galadriel’s long-lost husband, creating the possibility of a significant emotional storyline alongside the approaching war.
Meanwhile, Daniel Weyman’s Gandalf continues developing his magical abilities in Rhûn as he confronts the growing darkness.
Robert Aramayo returns as Elrond, while Benjamin Walker reprises his role as Gil-galad.
One particularly intriguing addition is Simon Pegg as the voice of the Balrog, bringing a new vocal dimension to the monstrous creature previously associated with the destruction beneath Khazad-dûm.
Why Season 3 Could Change Middle-earth’s Future
The trailer establishes that Sauron’s enemies are increasingly isolated.
The Dwarves have retreated into Khazad-dûm, while the Elven kingdoms of Lindon and Rivendell remain protected by the Three Rings.
Meanwhile, Númenor faces political divisions that threaten its ability to resist Sauron’s forces.
That creates a significant challenge for the remaining heroes: defeating Sauron may require kingdoms divided by competing interests to cooperate.
The introduction of Ringwraiths also marks an important development in the larger mythology, bringing the story closer to the terrifying world familiar from Tolkien’s later adventures.
When Will Rings of Power Season 3 Release?
Prime Video has confirmed that Season 3 will follow a staggered release schedule.
The first four episodes arrive on November 11, followed by two episodes on November 18 and the final two on November 25.
J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay return as showrunners.
With the creation of the One Ring approaching and Middle-earth’s remaining strongholds under pressure, Season 3 appears ready to deliver a defining chapter in Sauron’s rise to power.
