Sylvester Stallone isn’t denying that his daughter benefited from Hollywood nepotism. The 80-year-old actor has openly acknowledged that his influence helped Scarlet Rose Stallone secure a role in Paramount+’s Tulsa King, arguing that parents naturally want to give their children opportunities. However, he insists that family connections cannot guarantee a lasting acting career.
Speaking to USA Today in an interview published on October 16, Stallone addressed criticism surrounding his 24-year-old daughter’s casting in the Taylor Sheridan-created crime drama.
Stallone Says Helping His Children Is Part of Parenting
Rather than dismissing the accusations, the Rocky star embraced the nepotism label.
“Of course it’s nepotism, you idiot. That’s why we’re parents. We want the best for our children. So obviously we let them have every advantage.”
Stallone, who stars in and executive produces Tulsa King, believes that providing opportunities is a natural parental responsibility.
However, he also acknowledged that getting a role and maintaining a successful career are different challenges. He argued that audiences ultimately determine whether an actor has the ability to remain relevant, regardless of their family background.
His remarks offer an unusually direct perspective on Hollywood’s ongoing nepotism debate. While celebrity connections can help aspiring performers secure auditions and roles, they do not automatically establish talent or audience acceptance.
That distinction is particularly relevant because Scarlet’s involvement in Tulsa King has developed beyond a brief appearance.
Scarlet Stallone’s Role Expands in Tulsa King
Scarlet has portrayed Spencer since the show’s first season in 2022. Initially introduced as a local barista, her character becomes involved with Dwight Manfredi’s circle and eventually works caring for horses at a ranch.
Her storyline has expanded in Season 4, which premiered on Paramount+ on October 16, 2026.
More significantly, Paramount+ officially confirmed Scarlet’s promotion to series regular for Season 5, marking a major step forward from her recurring appearances. Production on the fifth season began in New York on October 5, although its premiere date has not been announced.
The development gives Stallone’s comments additional relevance. Scarlet is no longer simply making occasional appearances alongside her famous father; she is becoming a more established member of the show’s ensemble.
Working Together Has Strengthened Their Relationship
Beyond the professional opportunity, Scarlet has credited Tulsa King with improving her relationship with her father.
Speaking to People during PaleyFest NY earlier this month, she explained that collaborating on the series allowed them to spend meaningful time together after years of Stallone’s demanding career.
She described how their relationship has developed into a friendship built on greater understanding and mutual respect.
For Stallone, the question of nepotism appears straightforward: a parent’s influence can create an opportunity, but an actor must prove what they can do with it. With Scarlet’s expanded involvement already confirmed, her continuing performance will receive greater attention as Tulsa King moves toward its fifth season.
