Meghan Markle is returning to Australian television with a special guest role on Junior MasterChef Australia, joining chef and presenter Poh Ling Yeow when the cooking competition returns in 2027. Announced by Network 10 on October 27, the move follows Meghan’s appearance as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia earlier this year.
The children’s cooking competition is returning after a six-year break, giving Meghan another opportunity to combine her interest in food with her growing lifestyle and television career.
Meghan Markle Returns to the MasterChef Kitchen
Meghan’s new role builds on her previous experience with the franchise. During her visit to Australia with Prince Harry in April 2026, she filmed an appearance on MasterChef Australia that attracted the programme’s largest Sunday audience since 2023, according to Paramount Australia and New Zealand.
Explaining why she accepted the invitation, Meghan said in the official announcement: “I had an incredible time with the whole team at MasterChef this past April, so when they approached me to come back and work with this young group of talent, it was an easy yes.”
She also highlighted the personal connection behind her decision, adding, “I love cooking with my own kids, so seeing what these young stars create in the kitchen is going to be a lot of fun.”
Although some headlines describe Meghan as a co-host, the official announcement identifies her as a special guest joining Poh Ling Yeow to help guide the young contestants.
Poh Ling Yeow Leads the Show’s Return
Poh, who is also a judge on the adult version of MasterChef Australia, will bring her culinary experience to the junior competition. She welcomed the show’s return, saying she was delighted to reunite with Meghan after their earlier collaboration.
The series is produced by Endemol Shine Australia, part of Banijay Entertainment, and will air on Network 10 in 2027. Filming is expected to take place in Melbourne.
Another Step in Meghan’s Television Career
Meghan has continued to develop her screen presence through lifestyle programming. Her Netflix series With Love, Meghan ran for two seasons in 2025, focusing on cooking, entertaining and home life. She also appeared as a guest judge on Chopped Junior in the United States in 2016.
Her Junior MasterChef Australia appearance fits naturally into that trajectory, although the announcement does not indicate whether she has signed on for additional seasons.
For now, the confirmed plan is a special guest appearance alongside Poh as the programme introduces a new generation of young cooks in 2027.
