Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has delivered a massive opening weekend, crossing ₹424 crore at the worldwide box office in just four days. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the action entertainer witnessed strong growth on Sunday, October 18, bringing its domestic collection close to the ₹200 crore net milestone.
According to Sacnilk’s updated estimates, the film has earned ₹424.25 crore globally since its October 15 release, including ₹190 crore from overseas markets.
Jailer 2 Box Office Day 4: India and Worldwide Collections
Jailer 2 collected ₹55.85 crore net in India on Sunday, registering an 18.2% increase over Saturday’s revised ₹47.25 crore collection.
The film opened with ₹59.70 crore on Thursday before dropping to ₹37.10 crore on Friday. However, collections recovered over the weekend, demonstrating sustained audience interest.
After four days, the film’s India net collection stands at ₹199.90 crore, while domestic gross earnings have reached ₹234.25 crore.
Combined with its ₹190 crore overseas gross, the worldwide total now stands at ₹424.25 crore.
Tamil Version Dominates as Overseas Markets Deliver
The Tamil version remained the film’s biggest contributor on Sunday, earning ₹39.95 crore net. Telugu followed with ₹9.50 crore, while Hindi and Kannada contributed ₹5.75 crore and ₹65 lakh, respectively.
Overall theatrical occupancy reached approximately 62% across 15,473 shows, compared with 53.9% on Saturday.
Interestingly, overseas markets account for nearly 45% of the worldwide collection, highlighting Rajinikanth’s significant international appeal.
The performance is especially noteworthy because major multiplex operators PVR INOX and Cinepolis reportedly declined to screen the film across North India following disagreements over its four-week theatrical-to-streaming window.
Can Jailer 2 Surpass the Original Film?
Released in 2023, the original Jailer earned approximately ₹600 crore worldwide, becoming one of Rajinikanth’s biggest commercial successes.
The sequel has already collected more than two-thirds of that amount within its extended four-day opening weekend.
Featuring Rajinikanth’s return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, Jailer 2 also includes Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Vidya Balan and several other prominent actors.
The next major milestone is ₹500 crore worldwide, although Monday’s performance will provide a clearer picture of the film’s weekday momentum.
With a strong opening weekend behind it, Jailer 2 now faces the important test of maintaining its theatrical momentum beyond the initial rush.
