South Korean actress Ha Young has been replaced in Netflix’s The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call Seasons 2 and 3, while her upcoming SBS legal drama with Lee Je-hoon has been postponed following controversy surrounding her great-grandfather’s alleged pro-Japanese activities.
On October 19, Netflix confirmed that both upcoming seasons of The Trauma Code would move forward with a new cast member taking over Ha Young’s role.
Who Is Replacing Ha Young in The Trauma Code?
Former Lovelyz member Jeong Yein will portray nurse Cheon Jang-mi, the character Ha Young played in the medical drama’s successful first season.
Ha Young voluntarily withdrew from the production in September, with Netflix publicly respecting her decision.
Ju Ji-hoon, Choo Young-woo, Yoon Kyung-ho and Jeong Jae-kwang will return for the next two seasons, which have been confirmed for simultaneous production.
Why Is Ha Young Facing Controversy?
The controversy began in August after Ha Young discussed her family’s medical background during a television appearance.
Subsequent scrutiny focused on her great-grandfather, Ahn Sang-ho, and allegations concerning his association with pro-Japanese activities during Japan’s colonial rule of Korea.
Ha Young later issued a handwritten apology, acknowledging her limited understanding of his history.
“As a descendant, I sincerely apologize,” she stated.
Lee Je-hoon’s The Long Shot Trial Gets Postponed
The controversy has also affected SBS’s upcoming legal comedy The Long Shot Trial, starring Ha Young alongside Lee Je-hoon.
Originally expected in February 2027, the drama has now been removed from its planned broadcast schedule.
An SBS representative confirmed the adjustment on October 19, explaining that the network was considering different options because numerous actors and production staff had contributed to the project.
Unlike The Trauma Code, which could recast Ha Young before its new seasons, The Long Shot Trial has already completed filming.
SBS has not announced a replacement premiere date, leaving the finished drama’s release uncertain.
