Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s team has formally approached Hyderabad Cyber Crime authorities over allegedly fabricated content, manipulated screenshots and targeted online harassment involving the couple. The complaint, submitted on October 26, 2026, follows days of intense social media criticism surrounding their appearance on Koffee With Karan Season 9.
The development marks a shift from the actors publicly defending their marriage to seeking an official examination of specific online posts and publications.
Vijay and Rashmika’s Team Submits Evidence to Cybercrime Authorities
According to a statement issued by the actors’ team, their manager, P. Nishanth Kumar, physically submitted the complaint to Hyderabad’s cybercrime authorities.
The complaint identifies several categories of allegedly misleading online material, including fabricated narratives, manipulated screenshots, impersonation and targeted harassment.
The team has also provided relevant social media links and supporting evidence, requesting an impartial investigation into the identified content.
Explaining its position, the statement said:
“While we fully respect freedom of speech, individual opinions and the right to express criticism, there is a clear distinction between expressing an opinion and presenting fabricated, manipulated or materially misleading claims as facts.”
The representatives have also requested an examination of any potentially coordinated or paid misinformation campaigns, should evidence establish that such activity occurred.
Importantly, the submission of a complaint does not establish that a criminal offence has taken place. No police findings or arrests have been publicly confirmed in connection with the allegations.
Koffee With Karan Remarks Sparked Online Backlash
The controversy began after Vijay and Rashmika appeared on the October 21 episode of Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan.
During their conversation, Rashmika revealed that she had initially suggested marriage, while Vijay recalled asking her to bring up the proposal 100 times before he would agree.
The exchange prompted criticism from viewers, some of whom questioned Vijay’s attitude toward their relationship.
The conversation subsequently generated edited clips, relationship commentary and unverified claims concerning the couple’s marriage.
Rashmika responded through a lengthy Instagram statement, explaining that Vijay wanted sufficient time to consider their future together.
She also criticized people for believing misleading edits instead of her account of their relationship.
Vijay followed with a strongly worded Instagram post describing Rashmika as his best friend and wife, assuring followers that they were both happy.
