The Real Housewives franchise is heading from reality television to the New York stage. Lisa Rinna, Phaedra Parks, Dolores Catania and five other stars from Bravo’s reality-TV universe will appear in a new Off-Broadway revival of Neil Simon’s comedy Rumors, scheduled for a limited run in 2027.
The production will feature two rotating casts, bringing together eight familiar faces from different installments of the franchise. The show will run from January 9 through April 21 at the Newman Mills Theater inside the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space in New York. Opening night is scheduled for January 25.
Two Casts Bring Different Housewives Together
The first group will perform from January 9 through February 28. Lisa Rinna will play Chris, Phaedra Parks will portray Claire, Stacey Rusch will take on Cookie, and Dolores Catania will play Cassie.
A second group will step into the same roles from March 2 through April 21. This cast includes Cynthia Bailey as Chris, Eileen Davidson as Claire, Carole Radziwill as Cookie, and Candiace Dillard-Bassett as Cassie.
The production marks a New York stage debut for seven of the eight performers. Rinna is the exception, having previously appeared on Broadway as Roxie Hart in Chicago. Additional casting, including the performers playing the characters’ husbands, has yet to be announced.
Tony Award-winning director Zhailon Levingston, known for Cats: The Jellicle Ball, will helm the revival.
Why Rumors Is a Natural Fit for the Housewives
Originally premiering on Broadway in 1988, Rumors follows four couples who gather at a wealthy New York suburb for a wedding anniversary celebration. Their evening quickly descends into confusion when they discover their host is in an alarming condition, his wife is missing, and the police are on their way. As the guests try to work out what happened, secrets and misunderstandings pile up.
The play’s mix of gossip, social appearances and escalating chaos makes the casting concept particularly fitting for a franchise built around personal rivalries and dramatic confrontations. However, the production will retain Simon’s original dialogue rather than rewriting the comedy around the television personalities.
Levingston explained the creative connection in a statement: “What excites me about reimagining Rumors through the lens of The Real Housewives is how naturally these two worlds collide.”
He added that the production could reveal “the delicious chaos that unfolds when private lives become public spectacle.”
When Can Fans Get Tickets?
The revival is scheduled for a strictly limited 14-week engagement. Ticket presales are planned ahead of the general public sale on October 30, 2026, with prices starting at $79, according to published reports.
For Real Housewives viewers, the production offers a chance to see familiar television personalities work in a live theatrical setting. For theater audiences, it brings a new celebrity-driven angle to a classic farce without changing Simon’s text.
Whether the Housewives’ reality-TV experience translates into stage comedy will become clearer when previews begin in January. For now, the unusual crossover is already giving fans of both reality television and theater a reason to pay attention.
