Sai Pallavi is stepping into an action-packed police role in OM – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood. The makers unveiled a 1-minute, 43-second character teaser on October 26, introducing the actress as Nithya Reddy, an officer investigating an illegal red sandalwood smuggling operation. The Dhanush and Mammootty-starrer has also confirmed its new worldwide theatrical release date of November 20, 2026.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the upcoming action thriller places Sai Pallavi at the centre of an investigation involving environmental crime, giving audiences their clearest look yet at her character.
Sai Pallavi Takes Charge as CBI Officer Nithya Reddy
The teaser introduces Nithya Reddy as a capable officer from Andhra Pradesh who previously served as an Assistant Superintendent of Police.
She subsequently joined the Central Bureau of Investigation as an Additional Superintendent of Police, working in coordination with Interpol.
Her background also gives the investigation a personal dimension. Nithya is the daughter of an Indian Forest Service officer who died in the line of duty, connecting her pursuit of justice to her family’s history.
The footage shows her leading an operation against red sandalwood smugglers, establishing the mission’s connection to the film’s title.
Introducing the character, Wunderbar Films wrote:
“A force that stands for justice.”
The glimpse suggests that Nithya will have a substantial investigative role rather than merely supporting the film’s central action sequences. However, the filmmakers have not fully explained how her storyline connects with Dhanush and Mammootty’s characters.
OM Reunites Sai Pallavi With Amaran Director
OM marks Sai Pallavi’s reunion with Rajkumar Periasamy following their successful collaboration on Amaran (2024).
The filmmaker is writing and directing the action thriller, which features an ensemble including Dhanush, Mammootty, Sreeleela, Naseeruddin Shah and Indrans.
Produced by Dhanush, Shraddha Agrawal and Azmat Jagmag under Wunderbar Films and RTake Studios, the project features music by Sai Abhyankkar, cinematography by Ezhil Arasu K and editing by R. Kalaivanan.
Action choreography is handled by Yannick Ben and Kecha Khamphakdee.
Why OM Moved Its Release to November 20
The film was originally scheduled for October 16, but Dhanush announced a postponement to avoid competing with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, which arrived on October 15.
He also ruled out a Diwali release out of consideration for another previously announced major Tamil film.
The confirmed November 20 date gives OM a separate theatrical window, although its commercial prospects will ultimately depend on audience response.
With Sai Pallavi’s character now introduced, the film has revealed an important part of its central conflict: an investigation combining organized smuggling, environmental protection and personal loss.
The next major promotional reveal could clarify how these elements connect to the larger story involving Dhanush and Mammootty.
