Teja Sajja is promising a bigger and more ambitious zombie adventure with his upcoming film Zombie Reddy 2 – NXT LVL. The actor has revealed that the sequel will significantly expand the action and visual spectacle of the original, with the filmmakers aiming to deliver a large-scale entertainer for audiences across multiple countries.
Speaking exclusively to Variety India, Sajja confirmed that filming has recently begun and shared his excitement about returning to the franchise that helped establish his reputation for experimenting with unconventional genres.
Teja Sajja Teases Grand-Scale Action in Zombie Reddy 2
Discussing what audiences can expect from the sequel, Sajja said:
“It’s a fun action film. We are trying to do something on a very grand scale. It will be great visually, in terms of action.”
The actor also confirmed that shooting is underway, suggesting that the project has moved beyond its announcement stage.
Although specific action sequences remain under wraps, the emphasis on visual spectacle signals a substantial expansion from the original film’s relatively contained zombie-outbreak storyline.
Released in 2021, Zombie Reddy combined horror, comedy and action against the backdrop of a mysterious infection. Directed by Prasanth Varma, the film helped introduce zombie-centric storytelling to mainstream Telugu cinema.
The sequel now faces the challenge of increasing its scale without losing the humour that distinguished its predecessor.
Shanaya Kapoor and Upendra Join the Zombie Universe
Zombie Reddy 2 – NXT LVL introduces several changes behind and in front of the camera.
Suparn S. Varma, known for The Family Man Season 2 and Rana Naidu, takes over directing responsibilities, while Prasanth Varma remains involved as creator and writer.
The film also stars Kannada actor Upendra and marks Shanaya Kapoor’s South Indian cinema debut.
Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad under People Media Factory, the sequel features music by Gowra Hari and cinematography by Abhinandan Ramanujam.
The title announcement, unveiled on August 23, 2026, teased a more ambitious zombie outbreak, with the makers promising a bigger and more action-heavy experience.
Zombie Reddy 2 Targets International Audiences
One of the sequel’s most interesting decisions is its planned seven-language release.
Alongside Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, the filmmakers intend to release versions in Nepali and Japanese.
The inclusion of Japanese is particularly notable given the country’s established audience for horror and zombie entertainment. However, the multilingual strategy alone does not guarantee international box office success.
Sajja previously explored superhero storytelling through HanuMan and action fantasy through Mirai, making the sequel another addition to his genre-focused filmography.
Zombie Reddy 2 – NXT LVL is scheduled for release in 2027, although an exact theatrical date has not been announced.
With filming underway, the next major update will likely offer a clearer look at the expanded zombie world and the action sequences Sajja has been teasing.
