Carrie White’s terrifying story isn’t over yet! Amazon Prime Video has officially renewed Mike Flanagan’s Carrie for Season 2, just two weeks after the horror series premiered on October 7, 2026.
The announcement arrived on October 22, following what Amazon described as an impressive debut for its adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel. However, the streaming service has not disclosed specific viewing figures.
The renewal also brings Flanagan closer to realizing his previously discussed three-season vision for the character.
Mike Flanagan and Stephen King React to Carrie Renewal
Flanagan, who serves as creator, writer and showrunner, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue exploring Carrie White’s world.
“For 50 years, audiences have known and gravitated to Carrie White’s story,” he said.
Explaining his approach, Flanagan added that the creative team had always imagined a narrative extending well beyond the events of the original novel.
Stephen King, who serves as an executive producer, also welcomed the announcement.
“Mike Flanagan and I are excited about what comes next. It’s bound to be thrilling,” the author said.
While the renewal confirms another season, Amazon has not ordered a third installment.
What Could Happen in Carrie Season 2?

The eight-episode first season significantly changes the conclusion of King’s 1974 novel.
Instead of dying after the disastrous prom, Carrie survives and escapes Chamberlain alongside Emaline, another young woman possessing supernatural abilities.
That departure creates opportunities to explore Carrie’s life beyond the original story.
The series also introduces a wider network of people with psychic powers, suggesting that Flanagan could expand the mythology into territory not covered by earlier adaptations.
Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, while Thalia Dudek portrays Emaline. Kate Siegel, Samantha Sloyan, Siena Agudong and Matthew Lillard also appeared during the first season.
Returning cast members have not yet been formally announced.
When Will Carrie Season 2 Release?
Prime Video has not revealed a production schedule, episode count or release window for Season 2.
Flanagan previously described his ideal approach as a trilogy, giving Carrie a longer emotional journey than her original literary counterpart.
The renewal therefore represents something more significant than another retelling of the infamous prom-night tragedy.
It allows the series to explore what happens to Carrie after surviving the events that traditionally end her story.
All eight episodes of Carrie Season 1 are currently streaming on Prime Video.
