Rakul Preet Singh has worked across multiple film industries, but her formative years in Telugu cinema shaped her career and introduced her to some of the biggest stars in the South. In a recent chat with host Siddharth Kannan, the actor reflected on her early journey and shared what she believes sets Telugu superstars like Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu apart from the rest.
“Jr NTR Is a Born Star” — Rakul on the Natural Performer
Rakul began by praising Jr NTR’s effortless screen presence, calling him “a natural actor.” Having worked with him in Nannaku Prematho, she said his talent extends far beyond performance alone.
“He doesn’t need to rehearse,” she shared. “Give him a tough dance step and he’ll pick it up instantly. He was simply born with that ability.”
Allu Arjun’s Global Vision
For Allu Arjun, whom she co-starred with in Sarrainodu, Rakul highlighted his ambition and strategic thinking.
“Allu Arjun always had the vision that ‘I am a star, but how do I take Telugu cinema to the global level?’” she said. She credited him for being a team player who thinks beyond individual success, something she finds “amazing.”
Ram Charan’s Childlike Energy and Mahesh Babu’s Balance
Rakul described Dhruva co-star Ram Charan as someone whose star power is matched by a “childlike” enthusiasm.
“He has preserved his inner child,” she noted, adding that his energy creates a warm, collaborative atmosphere on set.
When it came to Mahesh Babu, her co-actor in Spyder, she emphasised his ability to balance personal and professional life.
“What makes Mahesh Babu who he is,” she said, “is how beautifully he manages his family time. He’s grounded, disciplined and completely present for his kids.”
A Career That Bridged South and Hindi Cinema
Rakul has shared the screen with all four actors in some of the biggest Telugu hits of the past decade — Sarrainodu, Nannaku Prematho, Dhruva and Spyder. After establishing herself in the South, she ventured into Bollywood with Yaariyan, later gaining wider recognition with the commercial success of De De Pyaar De.
Rakul’s Recent Success and Upcoming Films
The actor is currently enjoying praise for her performance in De De Pyaar De 2, which stars Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, Jaaved Jaaferi and Meezaan Jafri. The film opened to mixed reviews but has collected over ₹60 crore domestically, holding steady at the box office.
Up next, Rakul will headline Pati Patni Aur Woh Do opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. Directed by Mudassar Aziz and featuring Sara Ali Khan and Wamiqa Gabbi, the film is slated to release on March 4, 2026.

From observing Telugu cinema’s biggest stars up close to carving her own path across industries, Rakul Preet Singh’s reflections offer a warm look into the personalities behind the fame. And with new projects lined up, the actor is set to continue her streak of balancing heartfelt performances with sharp screen presence — much like the co-stars she admires.
