Actor Kriti Kharbanda has become the latest celebrity to fall victim to identity theft, and she’s not taking it lightly. The actor took to social media to alert fans after discovering that someone was impersonating her on WhatsApp, messaging people using her name and image.

Sharing a screenshot of the conversation, Kriti made it clear that the number circulating online does not belong to her.

“Not Ok. Not Cool.” Kriti Calls Out the Imposter

In her Instagram Story, Kriti posted a screenshot showing a WhatsApp chat where a random number was pretending to be her and initiating conversations. In a strongly worded note, the Housefull 4 actor wrote:

“Not ok. Not cool. Not my number. Pretending to be someone you’re not is a clear case of identity theft. Be warned.”

The screenshot also showed the recipient questioning the sender, stating that the number wasn’t Kriti’s. The imposter reportedly responded casually, raising further concern over how confidently such scams are being carried out.

Celebrities Increasingly Targeted by Scammers

Kriti’s case adds to a growing list of celebrities dealing with online impersonation and digital fraud. Just days earlier, Rakul Preet Singh shared a similar warning, asking fans not to engage with anyone claiming to be her on WhatsApp.

Actors Sunny Leone and Abhinav Shukla have also previously revealed that fraudsters used their identities to take loans from banks, highlighting how serious and damaging these scams can be.

Abhinav Shukla had earlier spoken about how impersonation scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated, urging people to stay alert and avoid sharing personal information online.

Kriti Kharbanda’s Work Front

On the professional side, Kriti was last seen in Rana Naidu Season 2, where she shared screen space with Rana Daggubati. She is next set to appear in the upcoming film Risky Romeo.

Final Words

Kriti Kharbanda’s warning is a timely reminder of how identity theft is no longer rare — even for public figures. As scammers continue to exploit digital platforms, celebrities and fans alike are being urged to stay cautious, verify identities, and avoid engaging with suspicious messages.
