Actor Celina Jaitly has approached a Mumbai court with a domestic violence case against her husband, Austrian entrepreneur and hotelier Peter Haag, marking a deeply painful turn in their 13-year marriage. The actor is seeking child access, maintenance, and substantial damages as she alleges emotional, financial, and personal distress.
What Celina Has Alleged
Celina, who married Haag on September 18, 2010, has accused him of forcefully taking over her property in India and selling a jointly-owned property in Austria without consent.
Her counsel, Rytim Vohra Ahuja of Karanjawala & Company Advocates, confirmed that the actor has sought:
- ₹10 lakh per month as maintenance
- ₹50 crore in damages
- Virtual and telephonic access to her three sons — Winston, Viraaj, and Arthur
The petition also includes a plea to cancel a gift deed through which Celina claims the property transfer was made when she was vulnerable and under immense emotional distress.
A Period Marked by Tragic Loss
Ahuja also highlighted the intense personal grief Celina endured during this period.
“She lost both her parents and her child (Samsher). She was in depression, and during that time, her husband forcefully took the property via gift deed,” her counsel stated.
Celina has publicly shared glimpses of her turmoil. In a recent social media post, she wrote about navigating “the strongest, most turbulent storm” of her life alone, without her parents, brother, children, or the partner who had once promised to stand by her.
Court Notice Issued to Haag
The Mumbai court has issued a notice to Peter Haag, with the next hearing scheduled for December 12.
Celina returned to India on October 11, but her children currently remain with Haag.
While Celina herself has not filed for divorce, Haag reportedly initiated divorce proceedings in Austria earlier this year.
HT City was unable to reach Haag for comment.
Another Battle: Her Brother’s Detention in UAE
Amid her personal crisis, Celina has also been fighting for her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in Abu Dhabi since September 6, 2023.
On November 3, the Delhi High Court heard the case and directed the Union of India to ensure he receives adequate legal representation in the UAE.
Final Words
For Celina Jaitly, the past year has been a collision of grief, legal battles, and emotional upheaval. As she navigates a complex fight on two fronts — her marriage and her brother’s prolonged detention — the actor’s story reflects the immense strain behind the quiet posts she has shared online.
With the next court hearing ahead, all eyes now turn to how this deeply personal case unfolds for the family.
