After months of quiet anticipation, Mohanlal has finally pulled back the curtain on Drishyam 3 — and the past, once again, refuses to stay buried.
On Wednesday, the superstar officially announced the theatrical release date of the third chapter in the iconic thriller franchise. Sharing a gripping teaser video on social media, Mohanlal confirmed that the Malayalam version of Drishyam 3 will hit cinemas worldwide on April 2, 2026, well ahead of its Hindi counterpart.
A teaser packed with memories — and menace
The announcement video doesn’t reveal much, but for longtime fans, it doesn’t need to. An old television set flickers. A shovel appears. A submerged car, a mobile phone, a yellow bag, CCTV cameras, and a script flash by — all haunting reminders of the carefully constructed lies and buried truths from the first two films.
Along with the teaser, Mohanlal wrote a chilling line that perfectly sums up Georgekutty’s journey:
“Years passed. The past didn’t.”
The final frame unveils the film’s poster, featuring Mohanlal staring straight into the camera, with his on-screen family standing silently behind him.
The Georgekutty family returns
In Drishyam 3, Mohanlal once again steps into the shoes of Georgekutty, the ordinary TV cable operator who became one of Indian cinema’s most fascinating anti-heroes. Joining him are:
- Meena as Rani George
- Ansiba Hassan as Anju
- Esther Anil as Anu
The official tagline hints that the story is far from over:
“The past never stays silent. Every secret has a return date.”
What to expect from Drishyam 3
Directed once again by Jeethu Joseph, the third instalment promises to push Georgekutty’s moral maze even further. The franchise has always thrived on psychological tension rather than spectacle — and early signs suggest Drishyam 3 will continue that tradition, exploring how long a man can outrun the truth before it catches up.
The film is produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, with Antony Perumbavoor backing the project. Pen Studios and Panorama Studios are presenting the film.
Hindi version arrives later in 2026
While Malayalam audiences get first access in April, the Hindi adaptation is scheduled for an October 2, 2026 release. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the Hindi version stars Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, and Tabu.
The Hindi teaser previously hinted that seven years have passed since the original incident — but the consequences are still very much alive.
Final words
Few franchises in Indian cinema command the kind of respect Drishyam does. With Drishyam 3, the makers seem ready to test how far Georgekutty can go before his carefully built world finally cracks.
April 2, 2026 is officially marked — and once again, audiences will be watching closely, knowing that in Georgekutty’s world, every silence has a cost.
