Kartik Aaryan is set to headline filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film Operation Sindoor, marking the first collaboration between the actor and the director. The real-life-inspired drama will draw from Lieutenant General K. J. S. “Tiny” Dhillon’s book, Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan.
According to Variety India, Kartik will begin work on the project after completing his current film, Captain India, directed by Shimit Amin. The film is backed by producer Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Agnihotri’s I Am Buddha Productions.
A Story Rooted in India’s Military Operation
Agnihotri announced Operation Sindoor in March 2026, describing it as a story rooted in the aftermath of the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. The filmmaker has said the production involves extensive research in collaboration with multiple wings of the Indian Armed Forces.
The military operation targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the attack. The film aims to bring those events to the screen, with its narrative based on Dhillon’s account.
Agnihotri, known for The Tashkent Files, The Kashmir Files and The Vaccine War, has frequently drawn on politically and historically significant events for his films. This project continues that approach, although its full storyline and casting details have not yet been announced.
What’s Next for Kartik Aaryan?
Operation Sindoor adds another ambitious project to Kartik’s expanding lineup. The actor also has Naagzilla, scheduled for February 12, 2027, and an untitled musical romantic drama with Sreeleela, planned for April 30, 2027. He is also reuniting with Kabir Khan for a sports biopic about Kashmiri kickboxing champion Tajamul Islam.
The release date and complete cast of Operation Sindoor remain unannounced. The project’s next major milestone will be further details about production and how Agnihotri plans to adapt the real-life events for cinema.
