Singer Dhvani Bhanushali has welcomed the Grammy Awards campaign for Dhurandhar: The Revenge, describing the development as an opportunity that “opens doors for Indian music.” The Ranveer Singh-starrer has entered the race for the 2027 Grammys with nine submissions spanning eight categories, bringing composer Shashwat Sachdev’s soundtrack into an international awards conversation.
For Bhanushali, whose career spans Bollywood playback singing and independent pop, the development represents a broader opportunity for Indian musicians to reach audiences and industry professionals beyond their domestic market.
Dhvani Bhanushali Sees Opportunity for Indian Artists
The singer’s response reflects the growing ambitions of India’s music industry, where artists are increasingly exploring international collaborations, independent releases and global recognition.
The Dhurandhar: The Revenge campaign is particularly significant because it does not focus exclusively on traditional film-music categories.
Its submissions span pop, rap, electronic music and global music, placing Indian film compositions alongside recordings from different international markets.
For emerging musicians, greater participation in such awards campaigns could encourage international exposure and industry connections.
However, a Grammy submission is not the same as an official nomination. The Recording Academy’s voting members determine which eligible entries advance to the final nominations list.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge Enters Eight Grammy Categories
On October 9, production banner B62 Studios announced a Grammy consideration campaign for the soundtrack, composed by Shashwat Sachdev.
The submissions include the complete soundtrack in Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Arijit Singh’s Phir Se in Best Song Written for Visual Media.
Other entries include Aari Aari for Best Asian Pop Music Performance, Kanhaiyya and Jaan Se Guzarte Hain for Best Global Music Performance, and Jaiye Sajana for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Destiny – Mann Atkeya, Vaari Jaavan and Hum Pyaar Karne Wale have been submitted in rap, dance/electronic and remixed recording categories, respectively.
The nine entries represent eight distinct award categories, since two songs are competing for Best Global Music Performance.
Why the 2027 Grammys Could Matter for Indian Music
The Recording Academy has introduced Best Asian Pop Music Performance for the 2027 ceremony, recognizing contemporary Asian pop recordings with meaningful use of Asian languages.
This creates another potential avenue for qualifying Indian pop artists, although eligibility depends on musical style and category requirements rather than nationality alone.
Indian musicians already have a Grammy-winning history, including A.R. Rahman’s two victories for Slumdog Millionaire in 2010. The current campaign therefore represents another attempt to expand that presence, not India’s first appearance at the awards.
Bhanushali is also developing her independent music career through her five-track EP FEELS, which includes Papa Hero Tum Mere and Fundadi.
The next milestone for Dhurandhar: The Revenge arrives on November 16, 2026, when the Recording Academy announces the nominations. The winners will be revealed on February 7, 2027.
Whether the soundtrack receives a nomination or not, its campaign demonstrates how Indian film music is seeking greater visibility across international genres.
