Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom Franchise Officially Ends as Producer Confirms No Sequel

Vijay Deverakonda
Kingdom

The chapter has officially closed on Kingdom. After months of speculation around a possible follow-up, producer Naga Vamsi has confirmed that the Vijay Deverakonda–starrer will not be getting a sequel, bringing clarity to fans who were expecting the film to expand into a larger franchise.

“There Is No Kingdom 2”

Putting all rumours to rest, Naga Vamsi plainly stated that Kingdom 2 is not happening. Speaking in a recent interaction, the producer made it clear that the story will not move forward beyond the first film.

When asked whether Kingdom was ever designed as a standalone project, Vamsi chose not to revisit the topic in detail, suggesting that reopening that discussion would only cause unnecessary disappointment. His remarks effectively confirmed that any earlier franchise ambitions are now off the table.

Collaboration With Gowtam Tinnanuri Still On

While the sequel has been shelved, Vamsi assured that his creative partnership with director Gowtam Tinnanuri remains intact. He revealed that Gowtam is currently working on a different project, and the duo plans to collaborate again after that film.

Interestingly, the producer also shared that he has already completed another project with Gowtam titled Magic. The film has wrapped production but is yet to receive a release date, indicating that their working relationship continues despite Kingdom not moving ahead.

About Kingdom

Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, Kingdom featured Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role, with Satyadev Kancharana and Bhagyashri Borse playing pivotal parts. The film was previously known as VD12 during development and had generated buzz as a potential franchise-starter.

The story followed a conflicted police officer sent undercover on a dangerous mission, one that gradually spirals out of control and forces him to confront his own psychological and moral struggles. While the film sparked curiosity for its premise, it ultimately did not pave the way for a sequel.

What’s Next for Vijay Deverakonda

Vijay Deverakonda is far from stepping away from action. The actor is set to return to the genre with Rowdy Janardhana, which is currently slated for a 2026 release. With multiple projects lined up, Kingdom now stands as a closed chapter rather than the beginning of a cinematic universe.

Final Words

Franchise plans come and go in Indian cinema, and Kingdom is the latest example of an ambitious setup that won’t be carried forward. While fans may be disappointed about the lack of a sequel, the confirmation at least brings clarity — and shifts attention to what Vijay Deverakonda and Gowtam Tinnanuri do next.
