With Sivakarthikeyan’s much-anticipated Parasakthi gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on January 10, fresh rumours on social media sparked confusion among fans overseas. Several posts claimed that the film’s premiere shows in France had allegedly been cancelled due to poor advance bookings.
However, the film’s official overseas distributor has now stepped in to shut down the speculation — calling the reports completely false and warning of legal action against those spreading misinformation.
What Sparked the France Cancellation Rumours
The rumours suggested that Parasakthi’s France premiere had sold just 16 tickets out of 905 seats, leading to alleged cancellations. The claims quickly went viral, with some users attempting to draw comparisons between Parasakthi’s overseas buzz and the European fan following of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.
The chatter soon caught attention within trade circles, prompting an official response.
Distributor’s Official Statement
Friday Entertainment, the film’s overseas distributor, issued a firm clarification on social media, dismissing the claims outright. The statement read:
“False information is currently being spread regarding the Parasakthi film premiere (AVP). The event is going ahead as planned. Appropriate action will be taken against those spreading this misinformation. Please rely only on official sources.”
The distributor also confirmed that no shows have been cancelled, and all planned premieres and screenings in France are proceeding as scheduled.
About Parasakthi
Directed by Sudha Kongara, Parasakthi is a large-scale period political drama reportedly made on a budget ranging between ₹150–250 crore. The film revolves around student leader M. Rajendran, whose life and death during protests form the emotional and ideological core of the story.
Originally planned for a January 14 release, the film was preponed to January 10 to capitalise on the Pongal festive window. Production banner Dawn Pictures announced the date change last month, citing strong demand from exhibitors and distributors.
Star Cast and Release
Alongside Sivakarthikeyan, the film features Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and marks the Tamil debut of Sreeleela. The supporting cast includes Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, Guru Somasundaram and Basil Joseph.
With rumours now firmly addressed, Parasakthi’s team is focused on its global theatrical rollout, as expectations remain high for Sivakarthikeyan’s first collaboration with Sudha Kongara.
