BLACKPINK’s JISOO has shared new details about the next chapter of her solo career, revealing that she is preparing her first full-length solo album. During her appearance on Hot Ones with host Sean Evans, the singer reflected on moving beyond group promotions and explained why now feels like the right time to explore her individual musical identity. Although the album’s release date has not yet been announced, JISOO says the project is designed to introduce fans to new sides of her as an artist.

The interview offered a rare glimpse into JISOO’s creative mindset as she balances her work with BLACKPINK while continuing to build her own solo catalogue. From discussing her music to sharing fun stories about learning English, the singer covered a wide range of topics throughout the episode.

JISOO says her new album will show different sides of her

While talking about her upcoming record, JISOO explained that she wanted the album to reflect a broader range of musical influences and personal tastes. Rather than focusing on a single sound, she said the project brings together different styles that have inspired her over the years.

“I made the effort to show a variety of charms. Whether it’s musical styles that I really liked or putting in different styles I liked listening [to], it was to add a bit of color to the album.”

She also reflected on how creating music as a solo artist has changed her perspective. After spending years performing as part of BLACKPINK, JISOO said she wanted to better understand her own artistic identity through this new project.

“Going from doing everything with a group to creating a solo mini album last year, I felt the need to further explore my true colors through this adventure I’m on. I’ve started a much bigger adventure this time that I will work hard with everyone to overcome.”

Although YG Entertainment has yet to confirm a release schedule, JISOO’s comments suggest the album is already well underway.

BLACKPINK members helped her learn English phrases

The interview also featured lighter moments as JISOO spoke about learning English from fellow BLACKPINK members JENNIE, ROSÉ, and LISA. She revealed that her favourite English expression used to be “it’s a pity,” but her bandmates later introduced her to another phrase that she now enjoys using.

According to JISOO, “They taught me another one like it: ‘Piece of cake!'”

She laughed while explaining that she often says the phrase whenever the opportunity arises, surprising people with her English vocabulary. When others ask how she learned it, she enjoys teasing them by simply saying that she “just does.”

The conversation highlighted the close friendship shared by the four BLACKPINK members, whose different language backgrounds have often helped them communicate with international fans throughout their global career.

Solo career continues alongside BLACKPINK

JISOO has remained busy balancing solo activities with BLACKPINK’s group schedule. Following the release of her solo mini album AMORTAGE in February 2025, she reunited with JENNIE, ROSÉ, and LISA for BLACKPINK’s comeback activities.

The group’s world tour ran from July 2025 to January 2026, before BLACKPINK returned with the single Deadline in February 2026. The comeback further cemented the group’s position as one of K-pop’s biggest global acts while allowing each member to continue pursuing individual projects.

Now, with her first full-length album on the horizon, JISOO appears ready to take another significant step in her solo career. While fans will have to wait a little longer for an official release date, her latest comments suggest the album will offer a more personal look at her musical tastes and creative ambitions than ever before.
