Later that night, Joseph says he discovered that someone had unlawfully entered his hotel room and left behind personal items, including wipes, a bottle of HIV medication bearing another person’s name, and a handwritten note implying that someone intended to return to the room for a private encounter. Joseph claims he interpreted the note as a warning of an imminent sexual situation he had not consented to.
He reported the incident to hotel security, Smith’s representatives, and a non-emergency police line.
