Sunny Deol is returning to the big screen with Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak, an intense crime thriller scheduled to release in theatres on November 20, 2026. The makers unveiled the film’s first-look poster on October 12, presenting the actor in a rugged, weathered appearance that hints at a character carrying a troubled past. Directed by M. Padmakumar, the film also stars Ravi Kishan and Pragya Jaiswal.
The poster offers a different side of Deol’s familiar screen persona. Rather than emphasising his larger-than-life action image, it presents a brooding character whose personal history appears central to the unfolding mystery.
What Is Sunny Deol’s Suryaa About?
Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak follows a man investigating unanswered questions and long-buried secrets. What begins as a search for answers gradually draws him into a complicated web of deception, emotional conflict and dangerous revelations.
Interestingly, the film is the Hindi adaptation of the acclaimed 2018 Malayalam crime thriller Joseph, which starred Joju George as a retired police officer drawn into a disturbing investigation.
Padmakumar, who directed the original, is also helming the Hindi version. His involvement provides continuity between the two productions, although the extent of the changes made for Hindi audiences remains to be seen.
Suryaa Finally Gets a Release Date After Years of Delays
The November 20 announcement also ends a lengthy wait for the project, which began filming in 2022.
Production was interrupted by scheduling difficulties as Deol worked on other films. The actor eventually returned to complete the remaining portions, including an elaborate climax sequence filmed in 2025.
Produced under the MM Moviez banner by Deepak Mukut, Hemmant Mukut and Lokesh Mukut, alongside Kamal Mukut, Suryaa brings Deol back to a character-driven crime story.
The film’s biggest attraction may be seeing the actor balance his commanding screen presence with the emotional complexity of a troubled investigator. With the release date now confirmed, attention turns to the trailer and how the Hindi adaptation will reinterpret Joseph’s acclaimed mystery.
