Tanushree Dutta has issued another strongly worded statement following Nana Patekar’s death, expressing her wish that the late actor’s soul endure suffering in the afterlife. The actress shared an Instagram Story on October 12, 2026, accusing Patekar of making her life miserable for 18 years. Her latest remarks come amid continuing criticism of her reaction to the veteran actor’s death on October 8.
“Burn in hell Nana Patekar,” Dutta wrote, holding him responsible for the suffering she claims to have experienced over nearly two decades.
She went further, writing, “May your soul be afflicted with the worst of torments and tortures of the hell realms.”
Tanushree Dutta Continues Her Criticism After Nana Patekar’s Death
In her lengthy statement, Dutta said she wanted Patekar to face punishment in the afterlife and claimed that his death had not erased the distress she associated with him.
Her latest post follows several controversial reactions, including describing Patekar as “evil dead” and comparing him to Raavan. The All Indian Cine Workers Association previously condemned her language, arguing that such remarks were inappropriate during a period of mourning.
However, singer Sona Mohapatra and actress Sandhya Mridul have defended Dutta’s right to discuss her alleged experiences.
The Long-Running #MeToo Controversy
The dispute dates back to 2018, when Dutta accused Patekar of sexually harassing her during the filming of Horn ‘OK’ Pleassss in 2008. Patekar denied the allegations.
Mumbai Police filed a closure report in 2019, citing insufficient evidence. In March 2025, a Mumbai court declined to proceed with the complaint on limitation grounds. The proceedings did not establish the truth of the original allegation or result in Patekar’s conviction.
Dutta’s latest statement has intensified an already sensitive controversy. While her allegations remain disputed, her comments have renewed questions about public mourning, personal grievances and how accusations against deceased public figures should be discussed.
