Apple TV+ has unveiled the first full trailer for Lucky, an upcoming limited series that blends crime, family secrets, and survival into what looks like one of the platform’s biggest drama releases of the summer.
Based on Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel, the series follows a skilled con artist whose carefully built life falls apart after a massive heist takes a disastrous turn. What begins as a criminal operation quickly spirals into a dangerous chase involving law enforcement, powerful criminals, and people from her own past. The newly released footage suggests viewers can expect a fast-moving thriller packed with betrayals, emotional confrontations, and plenty of action.
A Dangerous Past Comes Back to Haunt Lucky
The trailer introduces Lucky Armstrong, played by Anya Taylor-Joy, a woman raised in a world of crime who suddenly finds herself fighting for survival. As authorities close in and criminal figures demand answers, Lucky is forced to stay one step ahead while trying to uncover a path to freedom.
One of the most intriguing elements revealed in the footage is the complicated family dynamic at the center of the story. Timothy Olyphant appears as Lucky’s father, a man who seemingly played a major role in shaping her criminal upbringing. The creative team behind Lucky is equally impressive. Jonathan Tropper serves as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer, continuing his growing relationship with Apple TV+ following projects like See and Your Friends & Neighbors. Cassie Pappas joins him as co-showrunner, while Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter executive produce through Hello Sunshine. Taylor-Joy also takes on an executive producer role through her production company, Ladykiller.
Apple TV+ has steadily expanded its lineup of prestige dramas over the last few years with series such as Severance, Silo, Slow Horses, and The Morning Show. With its combination of crime-thriller tension, family drama, and A-list talent, Lucky appears positioned to become another major addition to that growing catalog.
The limited series is scheduled to premiere globally on July 15 with its first two episodes. New episodes will then arrive weekly through August 19, giving viewers a summer-long mystery centered around one woman’s desperate attempt to escape a dangerous life that refuses to let her go.
