Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is rewriting the record books in India just three days after its release. Tom Holland’s latest outing as Peter Parker has become the fastest-opening Hollywood film in the country, delivering extraordinary collections that have even outpaced several of Bollywood’s biggest blockbusters. With strong audience reception and packed theatres across major cities, the superhero spectacle has emerged as one of the biggest cinematic events of the year.
The film has not only dominated the Indian box office but is also contributing significantly to its global success. Its remarkable performance suggests that Indian audiences continue to play a crucial role in the worldwide popularity of Marvel’s biggest releases, and Brand New Day appears to be benefiting from that enthusiasm more than any previous Spider-Man film.
Spider-Man Continues Record-Breaking Run in India
Spider-Man: Brand New Day began its Indian box office journey with an impressive ₹60 crore net opening day, the biggest-ever start for a Hollywood release in the country. The momentum continued on Friday as the film added another ₹49 crore net, pushing its two-day total to ₹109 crore. Positive audience reactions and exceptional word-of-mouth then translated into even stronger business on Saturday.
The film recorded an estimated 35% jump in collections on its third day, earning ₹66.75 crore net. That remarkable growth has taken its three-day domestic total to ₹176 crore net, placing it well ahead of the pace maintained by many recent Indian blockbusters. With weekend demand remaining exceptionally strong, the film is expected to continue setting new milestones in the coming days.
India has already contributed around $23 million to the film’s worldwide earnings. If the current trend continues, the superhero blockbuster is expected to challenge and potentially surpass the $61 million lifetime Indian gross achieved by Avengers: Endgame, which remains the highest-grossing Hollywood release in the country.
Beating Bollywood’s Biggest Opening Weekends
The film’s phenomenal start has also put it ahead of several major Hindi blockbusters during their first three days in theatres. Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, one of Bollywood’s biggest commercial successes, had collected around ₹161 crore net during the same period. Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar reached ₹102 crore, while Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 posted ₹144 crore across its opening three days.
Although lifetime collections remain a different contest altogether, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has demonstrated just how powerful Marvel’s fan base has become in India. The combination of advance bookings, premium-format screenings and repeat audiences has helped the film achieve numbers rarely seen for an international release.
The film’s success also reflects a broader trend in the Indian market, where Hollywood franchise films have increasingly found audiences comparable to major domestic productions. Recent Marvel releases, along with films from franchises like Avatar and Fast & Furious, have consistently performed well, but Brand New Day has taken that momentum to another level.
Global Success Mirrors Its Indian Performance
India wasn’t the only market where the film made history. The movie debuted in North America with an unprecedented $72 million from paid preview screenings before officially opening in theatres. Once Friday’s business was added, the film reached a staggering $167 million opening-day total, surpassing the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame.
That achievement reinforces Spider-Man’s position as one of the world’s biggest box office draws. The latest chapter has continued the franchise’s remarkable commercial run following the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which became one of the highest-grossing superhero films in history.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film follows Peter Parker as he adjusts to a world where nobody remembers his identity after the events of No Way Home. Completely alone, Peter attempts to rebuild his life while confronting dangerous new enemies that threaten both his future and the city he continues to protect.
Tom Holland reprises his role as Spider-Man alongside Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned. The cast also features Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo, and Jon Bernthal, expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe with new characters while bringing back familiar faces.
With record-breaking numbers arriving from both India and North America, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already established itself as one of 2026’s biggest global releases. If its current pace continues, the film could end its theatrical run among the highest-grossing Hollywood titles ever released in India while setting new benchmarks for future superhero blockbusters.
