Tamannaah Bhatia has finally addressed the controversy surrounding veteran actor Annu Kapoor’s comments about her complexion and appearance, making it clear that she would rather concentrate on her work than give such remarks importance. Speaking at NDTV Profit Ignite 2026, the actress explained how she chooses what feedback deserves her attention and what she prefers to leave behind.
The discussion came after Tamannaah was asked about Kapoor’s remarks, which attracted criticism on social media last year and were described by many as misogynistic and sexist.
“I think that as a creative person, our most important task is to listen. And when we listen, what we keep and what we filter is very important to understand,” Tamannaah said.
She further explained that allowing such comments to affect her could prevent her from moving forward. “So I don’t even see these things. I focus on my work. I focus on what I want to make. I focus on my acting career,” she added.
The actress also described her approach to filmmaking as something more meaningful than simply pursuing a profession. “Genuinely, according to me, I want to do my work like a service. And I do that. And maybe that’s why it reaches people, because somewhere it comes from the right place.”
What Did Annu Kapoor Say About Tamannaah?
The controversy dates back to 2025, when Annu Kapoor appeared on YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra’s channel. During the conversation, the host showed him a clip of Tamannaah performing to Aaj Ki Raat from Stree 2 and expressed his admiration for the actress.
Kapoor responded with the phrase, “Mashallah kya dudhiya badan hai,” commenting on her physical appearance. He continued with remarks about her face and body, framing them as a blessing for audiences who enjoyed her song.
The comments quickly attracted criticism, with social media users questioning why the discussion focused on Tamannaah’s appearance rather than her performance.
Annu Kapoor Previously Defended His Remarks
In July 2026, Kapoor addressed the backlash in an interview with Zoom. He argued that the criticism was influenced by people’s preference for English over Hindi, suggesting that similar words might have been received differently in another language. He also said he would apologise to Tamannaah if she felt hurt by his comments.
Tamannaah’s latest response does not turn the exchange into a public feud. Instead, she has emphasised the importance of filtering criticism and keeping her attention on her creative ambitions.
The actress was last seen in Vvaan: Force of the Forest and is expected to appear in Ragini MMS 3, scheduled for release in 2027.
