Three weeks in, Dhurandhar isn’t just ruling the box office — it’s rewriting the record books. Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller, led by a career-defining turn from Ranveer Singh, has officially stormed past the ₹1000 crore worldwide mark, sealing its status as the highest-grossing film of 2025 so far.
What makes the feat even more impressive is the timing. The film hit this milestone during its third week, shrugging off fresh competition and using the Christmas holiday to deliver one final, massive push.
Christmas Weekend Sparks a Fresh Surge
After an explosive first two weeks, Dhurandhar showed slight signs of cooling as it entered Week 3. But the festive window changed everything. Between Day 15 and Day 20, the film pulled in ₹160.70 crore, followed by a powerful ₹28.60 crore haul on Christmas alone.
In contrast, new release Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, opened to comparatively modest numbers, making it clear which film audiences were prioritising.
Worldwide Numbers That Tell the Story
As per official figures shared by the makers, Dhurandhar’s 21-day box office stands tall:
- India Net: ₹668.80 crore
- India Gross: ₹789.18 crore
- Overseas: ₹217.50 crore
- Worldwide Total: ₹1006.7 crore
With this, the film has comfortably beaten the lifetime worldwide totals of Animal and Stree 2, and now finds itself in the rarefied company of Indian cinema giants like Baahubali 2, KGF: Chapter 2, RRR, Jawan, and Pathaan.
The next target on the radar is Kalki 2898 AD, which stands at ₹1042.25 crore worldwide — a gap that suddenly feels very achievable.
Story, Scale, and Star Power
Written, directed, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar blends large-scale action with political intrigue. Ranveer Singh plays Hamza Ali Mazari, also known as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a covert operative sent deep into Pakistan’s Lyari region to infiltrate a powerful Baloch gang.
The film’s impact is amplified by its stacked supporting cast, featuring Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film released on December 5 and hasn’t looked back since.
Adding to the momentum, the makers have already announced Dhurandhar 2, set for an Eid 2026 release across Hindi and all major South Indian languages.
Final Words
Crossing ₹1000 crore in just 21 days is no small achievement — especially in a crowded release window. Dhurandhar has proven that strong storytelling, scale, and star power can still deliver theatrical magic. With records falling fast and a sequel on the way, this spy franchise looks set to dominate conversations for a long time to come.
