As excitement around the movie slowly builds ahead of release, Bobby recently opened up about working alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in the ambitious project. The actor admitted that the film’s action style was physically demanding and far more intense than many people may expect from a commercial Bollywood spy film.
Interestingly, Alpha also marks Bobby’s first collaboration with Alia. He had earlier shared screen space with her husband Ranbir Kapoor in Animal, where his brief but brutal role became one of the film’s biggest talking points online. Speaking about the couple, Bobby said he had always wanted to work with both actors and had a great experience on both projects.

Talking about the movie itself, Bobby described Alpha as “new and refreshing,” mainly because it places two women at the center of a full-scale action thriller. That’s something still relatively uncommon in mainstream Indian action cinema, specially inside big franchise universes usually dominated by male super spies and larger-than-life heroes.
The actor explained that producer Aditya Chopra and director Shiv Rawail wanted the action to feel raw and grounded rather than overly stylized. According to Bobby, the realism made filming physically exhausting for everyone involved. He admitted the shoot became extremely tough because the action sequences demanded real intensity and commitment from the cast instead of depending heavily on shortcuts.
Bobby also had strong praise for Alia’s preparation during the demanding shoot. He revealed that even though she had never done this level of action before, she arrived fully prepared and deeply invested in every scene. The actor seemed genuinely impressed by the way she handled physically difficult sequences, saying he could clearly see the effort she was putting into making the action believable onscreen.
‘Alpha’ Expands YRF’s Spy Universe in a Completely Different Direction
Directed by Shiv Rawail, who previously gained attention for The Railway Men, Alpha is part of the growing YRF Spy Universe that already includes blockbuster titles like Pathaan, the War franchise, and the Tiger 3 series.
The movie’s first glimpse was actually teased through a post-credits moment in War 2 last year, which immediately sparked speculation among fans about how these characters may eventually connect with the larger spy universe storyline. The film also stars Anil Kapoor in a major role.
What makes Alpha interesting right now is that it doesn’t feel like a normal spin-off project. The film seems to be trying to reshape the tone of the franchise with a more grounded and physically aggressive style while also bringing female-led action into the center of one of Bollywood’s biggest cinematic universes. If the action lands properly with audiences, Alpha could easily become one of the more important films in YRF’s long-term spy plans.
