Yo Yo Honey Singh is speaking more openly these days about the darkest phase of his life, and this time the singer revealed how some of Bollywood’s biggest stars had actually warned him long before things completely went out of control. During a recent appearance on the ABtalks podcast, Honey looked back at the years when fame, money, and addiction had slowly started consuming him from inside. The rapper admitted that despite becoming one of the biggest music stars in the country between 2011 and 2014, he was mentally lost and behaving in ways he now regrets deeply.
At one point, Honey Singh was everywhere. From party anthems to film songs, his voice had become unavoidable in Bollywood and the music scene. But behind all the success, the singer says he was slipping into a dangerous mindset filled with ego, drugs, and emotional emptiness. He shared that he had started believing he was above everyone else and even confessed that he used to think of himself as “God” during that period. According to him, success came too quickly at a young age and he failed to handle it properly.
Honey Singh Says Shah Rukh Khan Saw The Danger Early
While speaking about those difficult years, Honey Singh revealed that actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar repeatedly warned him about his lifestyle choices. The rapper said both superstars noticed the changes in him and tried to make him understand that drugs and reckless behaviour would eventually destroy everything he had built. Honey recalled Shah Rukh Khan specifically telling him many times that the path he was on would “finish” and “spoil” him completely if he didn’t stop.
The singer also mentioned Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan during the conversation, saying that despite being massive stars, they remained grounded and simple people in real life. Honey admitted that he got access to some of the biggest celebrities very early in his career, and many of them genuinely cared about him. Looking back now, he feels those warnings came from people who could clearly see he was losing himself slowly even when he could not realise it himself.
Interestingly, Honey Singh made it clear that he does not blame Bollywood or the entertainment industry for his downfall. The rapper said the mistakes were his own and came from his choices, mindset, and addiction problems. He explained that fame alone never destroys anyone, but the inability to control success can push people into dangerous situations. That honesty has become one of the most talked-about parts of his latest interview online.
From Career Peak To Complete Collapse
Honey Singh’s downfall became visible around the time his track Desi Kalakaar became a huge hit. Even though his songs continued dominating charts, the singer was privately struggling with bipolar disorder and severe substance abuse. Over the years, rumours about his disappearance from the industry kept spreading, but fans only later discovered how serious his mental and physical condition had become during that phase.
In one of his older interviews with Lallantop, Honey Singh had shared shocking details about his addiction. The rapper admitted he was smoking nearly 12 to 15 joints daily while heavily drinking alcohol at the same time. He revealed that things became so bad that he once bit a friend multiple times while under the influence. According to Honey, he eventually broke down completely during a tour in 2017, quit music for some time, and returned to Delhi to begin treatment with doctors and therapists.
After years away from the spotlight, Honey Singh slowly made his comeback to music again. In 2023, he returned with Kalaastar, which acted as a sequel to his iconic track Desi Kalakaar featuring Sonakshi Sinha. The singer has also been active with concerts and tours recently while releasing his album 51 Glorious Days. More recently, Honey lent his voice to Jhoom Sharabi from Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2, showing that he is trying to rebuild both his career and personal life step by step.
