After a dreamy destination wedding and a star-studded Mumbai reception, Nupur Sanon is finally opening up about the love story that led her to the altar with singer Stebin Ben — and it turns out her sister Kriti Sanon played a much bigger role than fans imagined.
The newlywed revealed that Kriti was the very first person she confided in when her relationship with Stebin was just beginning, long before wedding bells were anywhere on the horizon.
A fairytale wedding, twice over
Nupur and Stebin tied the knot earlier this month in Udaipur, celebrating their union with two separate ceremonies to honour both their cultures.
On January 10, the couple exchanged vows in an intimate Christian ceremony, with Nupur looking ethereal in an off-shoulder white gown. A day later, on January 11, they followed it up with traditional Hindu rituals. For the pheras, the bride turned heads in a custom Manish Malhotra bridal lehenga, styled in a stunning dual-toned coral peach palette.
After the Rajasthan celebrations, the couple returned to Mumbai to host a warm, glamorous reception for friends and well-wishers from the film and music industries.
“The first person I told was Kriti”
In a candid chat with ETimes, Nupur shared how her relationship with Stebin began quietly — and how Kriti was her first sounding board.
“The first person I told about Stebin was my sister. We’re five years apart but extremely close — like best friends,” Nupur said.
At the time, Stebin was still establishing himself professionally, and Nupur admits there wasn’t much to “show” in terms of success. Instead, she spoke to Kriti about the person he was. She even made her sister listen to his voice.
Kriti’s reaction? Instant faith.
“She immediately said he had a magical voice and immense talent,” Nupur recalled.
Kriti helped convince mom too
Like most families, Nupur’s mother had initial concerns when she learned about the relationship. That’s when Kriti stepped in — again.

“I’ve actually never attended a Christian wedding before. The first one I experienced was my own,” she said with a laugh.
