Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2: Tandavam has finally stormed cinemas after a slightly bumpy road to release — and as expected, the opening days have been anything but quiet. Riding high on franchise loyalty and Balakrishna’s devoted fan base, the Telugu fantasy action drama made a loud entry before settling into a more measured pace on its second day.
A franchise-powered opening
Directed by Boyapati Srinu, known for his larger-than-life action spectacles, Akhanda 2 continues the spiritual-action universe that struck gold in 2021. The sequel brings Balakrishna back in his elemental avatar, backed by a strong supporting cast that includes Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, Jagapathi Babu, Kabir Duhan Singh, Harshaali Malhotra, and Saswata Chatterjee. The film is produced by 14 Reels Plus and IV Entertainment, with Ram Achanta, Gopi Achanta, and Ishaan Saxena backing the project.

Akhanda 2: Tandavam opened to an impressive ₹30.5 crore on Friday, a figure that includes paid preview collections. Trade circles weren’t surprised by the strong debut, given the original film’s cult following and Balakrishna’s festival-like openings in Telugu states. The first-day haul firmly placed the sequel among the stronger openings of the year in regional cinema.
Day 2 box office: Dip, but not panic
Saturday saw the film slow down, bringing in an estimated ₹15.50 crore. With that, the two-day India total stands at around ₹46 crore. While the drop from Day 1 looks steep on paper, industry watchers say it’s not entirely alarming for a mass entertainer that front-loads its collections.
According to Sacnilk, the decline appears more like an early correction than a warning sign.
Occupancy report: Mixed but steady
On Day 2, Akhanda 2 recorded an overall occupancy of 51.33 percent. Morning shows opened on a softer note at 28.86 percent, but footfalls picked up as the day progressed. Afternoon shows clocked around 50.14 percent, suggesting that audience interest remained intact beyond the initial rush.

The real test for Akhanda 2: Tandavam now rests on weekend momentum and word-of-mouth. If mass audiences respond positively to the film’s action blocks and spiritual themes, the sequel could quickly regain speed and stabilise over the coming days.
