Palash Muchhal Stable After Hospitalisation Due to Chest Discomfort

Days after the sudden postponement of his wedding with cricketer Smriti Mandhana, music composer Palash Muchhal was hospitalised following a bout of chest discomfort. Doctors have now confirmed that his condition is stable and that he is responding well to treatment.

What Happened?

According to a report shared with Mid-day, Palash first experienced chest pain and uneasiness earlier this week. He was initially taken to a hospital in Sangli for first-aid, but when his condition didn’t improve, he was shifted to Mumbai late Monday night for advanced care.

At SRV Hospital, doctors conducted key cardiac examinations, including an ECG and 2D echocardiography, after Palash complained of severe chest pain, shortness of breath, and restlessness.

Doctors Confirm It Was Stress-Related

Dr. Dipendra Tripathi, one of the specialists treating him, clarified that the symptoms were stress-induced, not the result of a major cardiac emergency.

“Palash’s condition appears to be linked to stress-related distress rather than a serious cardiac event,” he said.

While some levels in the tests were slightly elevated, doctors noted there was no indication of a dangerous cardiac condition. Oxygen therapy and close observation were administered as a precaution. Once his vitals stabilised, Palash was moved to a general room.

Medical teams believe the episode was triggered by the emotional strain and anxiety surrounding recent events, but say his stress markers have since dropped significantly.

Recovery & Discharge Plan

Hospital authorities have confirmed that Palash is now recovering well. He is expected to be discharged soon, but doctors have strongly advised at least three weeks of complete rest to ensure full recovery and avoid recurring symptoms.

Smriti Mandhana’s Father Also Recovering

The update on Palash’s health comes just a day after news emerged that Smriti Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, was discharged from the hospital on November 25. He was rushed to Sangli’s Sarvhit Hospital on the morning of November 23— the day of the wedding — after experiencing heart attack–like symptoms.

Why the Wedding Was Postponed

Palash and Smriti were set to tie the knot on November 23. However, when Smriti’s father fell ill, the couple agreed to put the celebrations on hold.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Palash’s mother shared that Palash is extremely close to Smriti’s father and didn’t want to continue with the rituals until he recovered fully.

Their Relationship Timeline

Smriti and Palash began dating in 2019 and kept their relationship low-profile for years. It wasn’t until July 2024 that they publicly confirmed their relationship, marking their five-year anniversary with a rare Instagram post. In the wake of recent events, Smriti has quietly removed all wedding-related posts from her account, sparking curiosity among fans.

Final Words

With both families navigating back-to-back medical emergencies, the focus has understandably shifted from celebrations to recovery. For now, the good news is that both Palash and Smriti’s father are stable, healing, and expected to be back on their feet soon — leaving the couple ample time to decide the next chapter of their wedding plans.
