The battle over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s ₹30,000-crore estate is growing sharper by the day, and on Friday, the Delhi High Court made it clear that it does not want the case turning into a courtroom spectacle. The ongoing dispute, filed by Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, against their stepmother Priya Sachdev Kapur, has been under intense public scrutiny — and the court is urging all sides to keep things focused.

Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma’s children, pointed to the original matrimonial decree, under which Sunjay Kapur was responsible for covering his children’s education and expenses. He claimed that the couple’s daughter, currently studying in the US, allegedly had her tuition fees pending for two months.
According to Jethmalani, the children’s estate is currently controlled by Priya Sachdev Kapur.
“Two months’ fee… has not been provided,” he told the court.

Appearing for Priya, advocate Rajiv Nayar disputed the accusations entirely. He insisted that Priya had paid every expense raised by the children and suggested that these allegations were being exaggerated to create media drama.

Justice Jyoti Singh was quick to defuse the rising tension.
“I don’t want to spend more than 30 seconds on this… I don’t want this hearing to be melodramatic,” she said, warning both sides not to bring petty disputes into the courtroom.
The court will continue hearing the matter on November 19, aiming to address the interim injunction application without delay.
