A fresh controversy has hit the South entertainment industry, and this one is getting messier by the day. Malayalam actor Anugraha S Nambiar has come forward with serious allegations against the makers of the Tamil web series Resort, claiming she hasn’t been paid for her work and was trapped in an unfair contract. What started as a personal grievance has now turned into a full-blown public dispute, with multiple sides sharing conflicting versions of the story.
In a video shared on her social media, Anugraha said she had blocked her dates for Resort after being promised a significant role, only to end up losing other opportunities — including another project on JioHotstar itself. According to her, the makers failed to compensate her despite the work she completed, leaving her in a difficult financial situation. She also spoke about the emotional toll the situation has taken, claiming the stress even led to health issues and hospitalisation.
The allegations didn’t stop at payment issues. Anugraha also accused Vijay Kumar Rajendran and his wife Nakshatra Murthy of being insensitive during her struggles. She claimed that Nakshatra allegedly sent an abusive voice message to a friend while she was unwell, and that Vijay showed little empathy toward her situation. The claims quickly gained attention, especially after another actor, Malavika Sreenath, appeared to support her version, alleging poor treatment during auditions and misleading promises about roles.
However, the other side has strongly denied these accusations. Nakshatra Murthy responded publicly, rejecting all claims and suggesting that the situation was being exaggerated or misrepresented. She stated that Vijay Kumar was not responsible for financial dealings, as he was not the producer of the series. She also alleged that the interaction involving the friend had been misinterpreted and claimed that the entire situation might have been “pre-planned” to provoke a reaction.
As the situation escalated, Vijay Kumar Rajendran himself addressed the controversy, offering a completely different version of events. He claimed that Anugraha had already been paid for her work, including an advance amount, and even alleged that she still owed a portion of that money back to the production. He also clarified that he never handled payments directly, stating that such matters were managed by the production team.
Vijay further added that Anugraha had only shot a limited portion of the series and was given flexibility to attend other auditions during the schedule. According to him, the production had still compensated her for the full day’s work despite minimal shooting. He also pushed back on her claims about role promises, stating that she had signed on for a supporting role and that the script couldn’t be altered later based on expectations.
The controversy has now reached a point where legal action might follow. Vijay mentioned that he is considering filing a defamation case, claiming that he has evidence to support his side. Meanwhile, Anugraha has continued to stand by her statements, insisting that there are more people who have faced similar issues.
What makes this situation more complex is that it highlights a bigger issue within the industry — especially for newcomers. Questions around contracts, payment transparency, and power dynamics are once again being discussed, and this case has become a talking point beyond just one show.
At this stage, it’s still a matter of conflicting claims, with no official resolution yet. But one thing is clear — this isn’t just about one role or one project anymore. It has opened up a wider conversation about trust, fairness, and accountability in the entertainment industry.
