Actress Anupama Parameswaran, known for her performances in Karthikeya 2 and 18 Pages, has taken legal action after falling victim to a disturbing case of cyberbullying.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, the actress revealed that she had been subjected to false, morphed, and defamatory content that was circulated online. The material, which also dragged her family and co-stars into the mix, spread rapidly across social media platforms.

Anupama called the experience “deeply distressing,” sharing how difficult it was to see fabricated stories and manipulated images being used to malign her and those close to her.

The matter was soon reported to the Cyber Crime Police in Kerala, who began an investigation into the online harassment. On further inquiry, authorities discovered that the same person had created multiple fake accounts to deliberately spread hatred and misinformation about the actress. Officials described the attack as systematic and organized, rather than random trolling.

The culprit was traced to a 20-year-old woman from Tamil Nadu, police confirmed. However, Anupama decided against revealing the young woman’s identity, saying she did not want to jeopardize her future.

“Every action online leaves a trace, and accountability will follow,” the actress wrote in her statement. “Having access to social media doesn’t give anyone the right to harass or defame others.”

Legal action has already been initiated, and the accused is expected to face consequences under cyber laws. Anupama also underlined the importance of online accountability, reminding followers that being a public figure does not mean being stripped of one’s right to dignity and respect.

“Cyberbullying is a punishable offence. And accountability is real,” she stressed.

Final Words:
Anupama’s response serves as a strong reminder of how seriously cyber harassment is now being treated under Indian law. Her decision to act firmly — yet compassionately — underscores a growing push among public figures to call out online abuse without perpetuating hate in return.
