Jr NTR and Prashanth Neel have finally revealed the official title of their long-awaited collaboration, and it is called Dragon. After months of fans simply referring to the project as NTR-Neel, the makers dropped a massive first glimpse late Tuesday night, instantly sending social media into complete frenzy. The teaser came out quietly at 10:52 PM through Mythri Movie Makers, but within minutes, discussions exploded online because the scale and atmosphere immediately reminded viewers of Neel’s previous blockbusters KGF and Salaar.
The nearly four-and-a-half-minute glimpse doesn’t waste much time with subtle storytelling. Instead, it throws viewers directly into a violent and gritty world revolving around India’s opium trade before and after independence. The teaser slowly builds tension through narration, visuals of destruction, and shadowy criminal empires before finally unleashing Jr NTR in full beast mode. He appears as a ruthless killer operating in a brutal land ruled by greed, bloodshed, and power struggles. One of the biggest shots from the teaser already has fans talking online — NTR standing atop a mountain surrounded by piles of dead bodies while holding guns, looking completely fearless and almost mythic.
The visual tone feels unmistakably Prashanth Neel. The dark color palette, smoky landscapes, muddy battlegrounds, and larger-than-life slow-motion presentation instantly reminded many audiences of the coal mines from KGF and the violent wastelands of Salaar. Even the world-building style carries Neel’s signature fingerprint all over it. For fans of his filmmaking style, that’s exciting. But for others, it also raised concerns that Dragon may visually resemble his previous films a little too much.
Fans Celebrate Jr NTR’s Fierce Look While Others Compare It to KGF and Salaar
Online reactions started flooding social media almost immediately after the glimpse release. Many fans praised Jr NTR’s intense transformation, especially his rugged appearance and chiselled physique in the teaser. Several viewers felt the actor looked more aggressive and physically commanding than ever before. One fan wrote that NTR wasn’t “acting” in the role but completely living inside the character. Another called Dragon the next big monster entry after Rocky from KGF and Deva from Salaar.
At the same time, some viewers couldn’t ignore how familiar the world felt. A lot of comments pointed out similarities in cinematography, atmosphere, and action staging compared to Prashanth Neel’s earlier films. Some even joked that the teaser looked like a spiritual combination of KGF and Salaar placed inside a new criminal empire. Still, even critics of the visual repetition admitted that the scale looked massive and cinematic enough to demand attention on the big screen.
The glimpse also introduced several major supporting characters. Anil Kapoor appears in a powerful cop role that closes out the teaser with strong impact. The cast additionally includes Biju Menon, Rukmini Vasanth, Khushbu Sundar, Guru Somasundaram, Ashutosh Rana, Sidhant Gupta and several others in important roles. Even though the teaser focused mainly on NTR’s entry, the supporting cast hints that the film may have multiple powerful character arcs inside this violent universe.
Dragon Already Feels Like One of Indian Cinema’s Biggest Upcoming Films
The timing of the teaser release also added extra excitement because it arrived just ahead of Jr NTR’s birthday celebrations. Fans were already expecting some kind of major announcement, but few anticipated such a large-scale glimpse revealing the film’s title, setting, and tone all at once. The movie is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on June 11, 2027, which means audiences still have a long wait ahead.
Dragon is being jointly produced by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram alongside Mythri Movie Makers and NTR Arts. The film is planned as a pan-Indian release across Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages, clearly showing the makers are targeting a nationwide audience similar to Neel’s previous blockbusters.
For now though, the biggest talking point remains Jr NTR himself. After the global success of RRR, expectations around every project connected to him have become enormous. Dragon now enters that pressure zone too. And judging by this first glimpse, Prashanth Neel isn’t planning to make a small film at all.
