After diving deep into emotionally intense territory with films like Do Patti (2024) and Tere Ishk Mein, Kriti Sanon is switching gears — and she’s clearly enjoying the change. The actor is currently shooting for Homi Adajania’s Cocktail 2, a rom-com that also stars Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
The film is positioned as a spiritual sequel to Adajania’s much-loved 2012 hit Cocktail, which famously featured Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, and Diana Penty. But Kriti is quick to clarify — this isn’t a sequel in the traditional sense.
“Same Vibe, Completely New Story”
In a recent interview, Kriti explained why Cocktail 2 arrived at the perfect moment for her.
After the emotional heaviness of Tere Ishk Mein, she said she was craving something lighter — youthful, urban, and fun. That’s where Cocktail 2 fit in seamlessly.
Calling it a “vibe sequel,” Kriti said the story, characters, and backstories are entirely new, with only the spirit of Cocktail carrying forward. What remains unchanged, she added, is Homi Adajania’s sensibility and Maddock Films’ signature touch.
A Fresh Look, New Energy
Kriti also revealed that the film is giving her a completely new on-screen look, something she hasn’t explored before.
She shared that they’ve already completed two major shooting schedules, with another Mumbai schedule set to begin soon. According to her, the film boasts stunning visuals, contemporary themes, and music that’s shaping up to be a major highlight.
What excites her most is how relevant the film feels.
Even today, Cocktail doesn’t feel dated despite being over a decade old — and Kriti believes Cocktail 2 carries that same freshness, exploring modern relationships and evolving equations in a way that feels current and relatable.
Shooting With Shahid, Rashmika — and “Mad” Homi
On working with her co-stars, Kriti had nothing but praise.
She described shooting with Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna as a blast, adding that Homi Adajania’s famously chaotic energy keeps the set lively and fun. “Homi is mad,” she joked — but in the best possible way.
The film also marks Kriti and Shahid’s second collaboration, after Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. When reminded of that film — where she played a robot — Kriti laughed and said, “But finally, I’m human!”
Final Words
With a fresh cast, a new story, and the same breezy, modern charm that made Cocktail iconic, Cocktail 2 is shaping up to be one of the most awaited rom-coms on the horizon. Kriti Sanon stepping into a lighter, playful space — alongside Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna — only adds to the curiosity.
If the vibe clicks the way the original did, this cocktail might just be worth sipping again.
