Veteran actor Dharmendra, 89, was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai last week, leading to widespread concern among fans about his health. However, his wife and fellow actor Hema Malini has now assured everyone that he is doing well and recovering steadily.
Hema Malini Gives Update at Mumbai Airport
On Monday morning, Hema Malini was spotted at the Mumbai airport as she prepared to leave the city. Dressed in a floral pink-and-white salwar suit, the actor-politician paused briefly to greet the paparazzi and gave a reassuring update about her husband.
When asked by photographers, “Sir kaise hain?” (How is sir?), Hema responded with a calm “okay” gesture, confirming that Dharmendra’s condition is stable and there’s no cause for worry. She also folded her hands in gratitude before heading inside.
A short video of the moment has since gone viral on social media, with fans expressing relief after seeing her composed and smiling demeanor.
Hospital Visit for Routine Check-Ups
Reports of Dharmendra’s hospitalisation surfaced on Friday, sparking speculation about his health. However, a close source later clarified that the actor had been admitted only for routine medical tests and was not suffering from any illness.
“Yes, Dharmendra is currently at Breach Candy Hospital, but there is absolutely no cause for concern,” the insider said.
“He often goes for regular medical check-ups, and this visit was just for completing a few routine tests.”
The source further explained that, given his age, the actor preferred staying at the hospital for a few days instead of commuting daily for the tests.
“At 89, frequent travel can be exhausting, so he decided to complete everything in one go,” they added.
Meanwhile, Dharmendra’s sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol are reportedly in constant touch with the hospital staff while managing their ongoing film shoots.
Family and Fans Send Well-Wishes
Dharmendra and Hema Malini, who share two daughters — Esha Deol and Ahana Deol — have been receiving countless messages and prayers from fans since the news broke. Social media was filled with posts wishing the veteran actor a speedy recovery, with many calling him “the heart of Indian cinema.”
Dharmendra’s Upcoming Projects
On the professional front, Dharmendra was last seen in “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” (2024) alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon.
Next, he will appear in Sriram Raghavan’s “Ikkis,” co-starring Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sikandar Kher. The film is based on the real-life story of Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient.
“Ikkis” is expected to release in December 2025, coinciding with Dharmendra’s 90th birthday celebrations.
A Beloved Icon Still Going Strong
Despite occasional health concerns, Dharmendra continues to stay active both personally and professionally. Known for his humility, warmth, and evergreen charm, the actor remains one of Bollywood’s most adored legends.
Fans across generations continue to send him heartfelt wishes — a testament to the immense love and respect he commands even today.
