FWICE Bans Cooperation With Ranveer Singh After ‘Don 3’ Fallout With Farhan Akhtar

The controversy around Don 3 is getting messier now, and things have reportedly escalated far beyond a simple casting change. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees, better known as FWICE, has officially issued a Non-Cooperation Directive against Ranveer Singh after hearing filmmaker Farhan Akhtar’s complaint regarding the actor’s sudden exit from the project.

According to FWICE president BN Tiwari, the directive has already been enforced immediately. He reportedly stated that no member associated with the film body will work with Ranveer Singh until discussions happen between both sides and the matter is addressed properly. The organisation also clarified that it is still open to hearing Ranveer’s side if the actor chooses to step forward for a resolution.

Ranveer Singh’s Exit Allegedly Caused Huge Financial Losses

Ranveer Singh was earlier announced as the new face of the “Don” franchise after years of speculation around who would carry the legacy forward after Shah Rukh Khan. The announcement itself had divided audiences because many fans strongly associated the franchise with Shah Rukh’s version of Don. Still, the project generated huge buzz after Farhan Akhtar officially confirmed Ranveer’s casting.

But according to reports, Ranveer later exited the project unexpectedly after pre-production work had already started. Farhan Akhtar’s production banner Excel Entertainment allegedly claimed losses touching nearly ₹45 crore because of the actor’s departure.

The complaint reportedly also mentioned that Farhan himself faced professional losses because he had blocked dates as a director for the film. Pre-production planning, scheduling, and financial arrangements had already moved ahead before the project suddenly hit uncertainty again.

FWICE’s statement described Ranveer’s conduct as problematic toward both the federation and stakeholders linked to the film. However, the body also stressed that it still hopes for an “amicable and final resolution,” suggesting the ban may not necessarily become permanent if discussions happen soon.

‘Don 3’ Faces Another Major Setback

Honestly, “Don 3” has struggled with turbulence almost from the moment it was announced. The film was already under pressure because replacing Shah Rukh Khan in such an iconic franchise was never going to be easy. Fan reactions online were heavily mixed from the beginning, with many viewers skeptical about rebooting or continuing the series without the original lead.

Now this latest dispute only adds more uncertainty around the film’s future. A Non-Cooperation Directive from FWICE can create serious production complications because the organisation represents large sections of workers and technicians connected to the Indian film industry. If enforced strictly, it can affect collaborations, scheduling, and production logistics around future projects involving the actor.

At the moment, Ranveer Singh has not publicly reacted to the FWICE directive or the allegations connected to “Don 3.” That silence is only fueling more speculation online about what exactly happened behind the scenes between the actor and the makers.

For Farhan Akhtar meanwhile, the franchise has become one of his most ambitious but difficult projects to revive. The earlier Don and Don 2 developed cult popularity over the years, especially because of Shah Rukh Khan’s stylish anti-hero performance and Farhan’s slick modern treatment of the franchise.

Whether “Don 3” eventually moves ahead with a different actor or somehow resolves things with Ranveer Singh now remains the biggest question hanging over the project.
