As Border 2 continues to roar at the box office, the celebration has turned personal for Sunny Deol. Amid the film’s strong theatrical run, his younger half-sister Esha Deol hosted a special family screening in Mumbai, bringing the Deol siblings together in public—and quietly putting long-standing rumours to rest.
The private screening was held at the family-owned Sunny Super Sound studio, where Sunny, Esha, and Ahana Deol posed together for photographers. The appearance marked their first public outing together since the passing of Dharmendra in November 2025.
A United Front After Months of Speculation
Following the death of Dharmendra, gossip around the Deol family’s dynamics intensified, with speculation about strained ties between his first wife Prakash Kaur and second wife Hema Malini. Rumours also suggested distance between Sunny and Hema Malini’s daughters.
Saturday’s appearance told a very different story.
Esha took the lead in organising the screening, inviting family members and close friends to watch Sunny’s latest war epic. The siblings smiled, chatted with the paparazzi, and shared a light moment when a photographer quoted Sunny’s now-viral dialogue: “Awaaz kahan tak jaani chahiye? Lahore tak.” Sunny responded with a grin—clearly soaking in both the praise and the support.
Hema Malini Had Addressed the Rumours Earlier
In an earlier interview with The Indian Express, Hema Malini had firmly dismissed claims of tension within the Deol household. She described her relationship with Sunny as “very nice and cordial” and criticised the tendency to invent conflict for gossip.
Calling the family “very close,” she made it clear that she owes no explanations to outsiders—words that now seem reinforced by the siblings’ public show of unity.
Inside Border 2
In Border 2, Sunny Deol reprises his commanding presence as Colonel Fateh Singh Kaler of the 6 Sikh Regiment. The film follows his mentorship of three officers from different branches of the armed forces—played by Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty.
Their friendship forms the emotional spine of the story, set against the backdrop of Operation Chengiz Khan during the 1971 India–Pakistan war. The film also ties back to the original Border in its closing moments, referencing the sacrifices of characters played by Akshaye Khanna and Suniel Shetty.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 has been running successfully in theatres since January 23, with trade tracking suggesting it could cross the ₹100 crore mark before the end of its opening weekend.
Final Words
Beyond box office numbers and patriotic fervour, Saturday’s screening carried a quieter message. With Esha Deol stepping up to celebrate her brother and the siblings standing together for the cameras, the Deol family sent a clear signal: rumours don’t define reality. For Sunny Deol, the applause isn’t just coming from packed theatres—but from home as well.
