There are very few actors in Bollywood who carry the kind of silent intensity that Akshaye Khanna does. He rarely appears in controversies, almost never reacts loudly in public, and is mostly known in the industry for being reserved and thoughtful. But according to actor Amit Behl, there was one moment on a film set where Akshaye completely lost his calm after witnessing a junior actor being humiliated during lunch break. And from the way Amit described it, the actor’s anger left the entire unit shaken.
During a recent chat on Siddharth Kannan’s YouTube channel, Amit Behl opened up about the incident and shared how it changed the way he looked at Akshaye as a person. The veteran actor said the incident happened while they were shooting together for a film many years ago. According to him, one supporting actor who was staying at a different hotel from the main cast had arrived at the primary hotel during lunch time and quietly started eating from the buffet arranged for the lead actors and crew members.
Things reportedly turned awkward within minutes. Amit recalled that somebody related to the production team noticed the actor and pointed out that he was not supposed to eat there. Soon after, a production member approached the junior actor and asked him to stop eating. The actor apparently became embarrassed, kept his plate aside without creating any scene, and quietly moved away from the crowd. Amit said the moment was deeply uncomfortable because everyone saw it happening but nobody immediately reacted.
That was when Akshaye Khanna stepped in. According to Amit, the actor had been silently observing the situation from a distance before suddenly erupting in anger. He said Akshaye, who normally speaks very little on set, completely blasted the people responsible and even confronted the producer directly. Amit described the moment as “a volcano finally exploding,” saying nobody had ever seen Akshaye react with that level of emotion before.
What reportedly made the moment even more powerful was what Akshaye said afterwards. Amit revealed that the actor gave an emotional speech about dignity, hunger, and how every technician and artist deserves equal respect on a film set. Akshaye apparently reminded the team that films are not built through luxury or expensive arrangements, but through the goodwill and blessings of the people working behind the scenes. The statement stayed with many crew members because it came from somebody who usually avoids dramatic confrontations.
In an industry where hierarchy on sets has often been discussed quietly for years, stories like this hit differently. Bollywood has regularly faced criticism over the treatment of junior artists, background performers, and technicians, especially when it comes to facilities, travel, and food arrangements. What made Akshaye’s reaction stand out was that he did not stay silent despite being one of the lead actors. Instead of ignoring the issue, he reportedly made sure everybody present understood why the incident was wrong.
Interestingly, this story has resurfaced at a time when Akshaye Khanna is once again enjoying strong appreciation for his performances. The actor was recently seen in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, where his role as Rehman Dakait became one of the biggest talking points among viewers. Even though the project featured multiple known faces, many audiences felt Akshaye dominated every scene he appeared in with his intense screen presence and controlled performance style.
The actor is now entering a fresh phase in his career with several unexpected projects lined up. Akshaye is preparing for his Telugu debut with Mahakali, which is part of Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. He will reportedly play Shukracharya in the film, a character expected to have a major mythological presence in the franchise. Apart from that, he is also set to appear as the primary antagonist in Netflix’s upcoming film Ikka, sharing screen space with Sunny Deol, Dia Mirza, Tillotama Shome, and Sanjeeda Shaikh.
